Visitors and members: feel free to speak with the Pastor after the service, or call: 387-7035 for Pastor Nolting or 344-0898 for Pastor Eichstadt or 345-3027 for the church office. Pre-Service Devotion: Psalm 25 (p. 492, pew Bible; p. 128, red hymnal) [Pew Bibles are located on the book shelves in the narthex.] [Communion Preparation: The Christian Questions, inside the back cover of the red hymnals.] Pre-Service Prayer: O Lord God, my dear Heavenly Father, how can I ever praise You enough for Your grace. I have at times wandered from Your ways and Your truths, yet You welcome me home in love when I come with a repentant heart. I have at times been cool and aloof over against my fellow sinners, yet You counsel me with patience regarding true mercy. May my heart ever be filled with joy as I contemplate Your grace offered in connection with Jesus, Your dear Son and our Savior. Amen.

COMMUNION ORDER OF SERVICE WE PREPARE TO MEET OUR LORD Hymn: 241 Father, in Whom We Live WELCOME in the name of God, who loves you! Invocation: Pastor: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Congregation (sings): Amen. Our Confession of Sins: Pastor: Beloved in the Lord! Let us draw near with a true heart and confess our sins unto God, our Father, beseeching Him in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to grant us forgiveness. Our help is in the name of the Lord. Congregation (sings): Who made heaven and earth. Pastor: I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord. Congregation (sings): And You forgave the iniquity of my sin. All: O almighty God, merciful Father, I, a poor, miserable sinner, confess unto You all my sins and iniquities with which I have offended You. I justly deserve Your temporal and eternal punishment. But I am heartily sorry for my sins and sincerely repent of them. I pray that You would of Your boundless mercy and for the sake of the holy, innocent, bitter sufferings and death of Your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, be gracious and merciful to me, a poor, sinful being. Pastor: Upon this your confession, I, by virtue of my office as a called servant of the Word, announce the grace of God unto all of you, and in the stead and by the command of my Lord Jesus Christ, I forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Congregation (sings): Amen. WE PRAISE OUR LORD Responsive Reading: Psalm 84:1-4, 11-12 NKJV 2

P: How lovely is Your tabernacle, O LORD of hosts! My soul longs, yes, even faints for the courts of the LORD; C: My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. P: Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young: C: Even Your altars, O LORD of hosts, my King and my God. P: Blessed are those who dwell in Your house: C: They will still be praising You. P: For the LORD God is a sun and shield: C: The LORD will give grace and glory! P: No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly: C: O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man who trusts in You! P: Glory be to God! Congregation (sings): (TLH 244:1) Glory be to God the Father, Glory be to God the Son, Glory be to God the Spirit: Great Jehovah, Three in One! Glory, glory, while eternal ages run! OUR LORD SPEAKS TO US Epistle Reading: Ephesians 2:1-10 (p. 1038, pew Bible) By nature we are dead in trespasses and sins. But God has saved us by grace through faith without any works on our part. We have been saved, however, in order to do good works prepared by God beforehand for us to do! Gospel Reading: Matthew 9:9-13 (p. 856, pew Bible) Jesus here calls Matthew, a tax-collector and therefore a social outcast, to be one of His disciples. The religious leaders of that day questioned Jesus association with such known sinners, but Jesus proclaimed that He had come to call such sinners to repentance. 3

Hymn: (Sun. a.m.) 749 Come to Living Word and Water Adult Baptism: (Sun. a.m.) Raymond Folkerts Our Confession of Faith in the Nicene Creed I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of His Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by Whom all things were made; Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried. And the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures and ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father. And He will come again with glory to judge both the living and the dead, Whose kingdom will have no end. And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of life, Who proceeds from the Father and the Son, Who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified, Who spoke by the prophets. And I believe in one holy Christian and apostolic Church. I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins, And I look for the resurrection of the dead And the life of the world to come. Amen. 4
