A Message from Your Pastoral Assistant For Faith Formation Dear Parishioners, As we have now exited the twelve days of Christmas, it is important to not forget the message and sentiment that the season brings. Meditating on the Christ child is a year-round practice. Remembering that God is so humble that not only would He become a man, but He would also allow Himself to be nursed in the womb of a mother is a sign that God does not desire to display His superiority. Rather, God desires to display His love. As we exit the Christmas season, let s remember to carry what is most important in our hearts. For where you treasure is, so there also will your heart be. -Luke 12:34 In Christ, Alex Harb Future Faith Formation Events Frassati Youth Group We will meet January 13th at 6pm for a movie night.. THE PROTO-CATHEDRAL PROTECT LIFE CRUSADERS & THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS PRESENT: GOSNELL: THE TRIAL OF AMERICA S BIGGEST SERIAL KILLER JANUARY 15TH, 7:00PM KIGGINS THEATRE 1011 Main Street, Vancouver, WA 98660 TICKETS: Adults-$10, Youth 12 and Under-$5, Family-$20 The film is the shocking true story of the investigation and trial of Dr. Kermit Gosnell - his 30 year killing spree and the political and media establishment that tried to cover it up. Originally investigated for illegal prescription drug sales, a raid by DEA, FBI & local law enforcement revealed crimes they could not have expected within the clinic. While the movie is not graphic and has a PG-13 rating, it is one of the most important true-crime stories in recent American history. It is, and will continue, to change hearts and minds! The Knights of Columbus and the Protect Life Crusaders will be selling tickets after all Masses at The Proto-Cathedral on Jan 6th and 13th. DID YOU KNOW By Jim Jones, Parishioner Did you know Abortion is not about health, it is about birth control. The Guttmacher Institute, research advocate for Planned Parenthood, reports that abortions for the health of the mother or child range at 5-10%. Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion operator in the country so that figure should be viewed with skepticism. But for the sake of conversation, let s take them at their word. The Center for Disease Control reported 638,169 legal abortions in 2015. Using GI s data at the high end (10%), that would total 574,352 legal abortions in the US annually that are unrelated to the health of either the mother or child. By way of comparison, the FBI reported a total of 15,696 murders in that same year of 2015. That total is just 3% of the number of healthy children killed in the womb of a healthy mother. To put that in perspective; on an average 2015 weekday, 2,200 young Americans were killed for some reason that had nothing to do with health. Medicine is the science and practice of the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. OBGYN s are taught in medical school that when treating a pregnant woman, there are two patients. The elective killing of a patient is never the practice of medicine. Planned Parenthood s mission statement claims to provide comprehensive reproductive and complementary health care services... Don t be fooled: When Roe was decided in 1973, abortion for health reasons was already legal in every state. It always has been. Current abortion practice is not about health, it s about birth control.
