Rev. Mike Winters Pastor Ben Harding Music Director Dr. Ray Jones, Jr. Pastor Emeritus WISE BAPTIST NEWS A PUBLICATION FOR MEMBERS AND FRIENDS OF WISE BAPTIST CHURCH January 15, 2019 A place for faith and fellowship with family and friends. Dear Church Family and Friends, Can loved ones who have died communicate with me while I am alive? This is a frequent question. Many who have had Near-Death Experiences (NDE s) claim they have communicated with loved ones who have died. This can cause us to think about spiritualists calling for the spirits of the dead to visit during a séance. The Bible can give us guidance in this area. Matthew 17:1-4 tells about Jesus being transfigured right in front of the disciples. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as light. Moses and Elijah appear and talk with Jesus. Peter mentions Moses and Elijah by name. Sometimes a thin line separates the physical and the spiritual worlds. Near-Death-Experiences give us a glimpse into heaven. The very best in this life hints at what is to come for all who know Jesus personally. Be comforted and encouraged about loved ones who have gone to be with God. Be comforted and encouraged in your life today and the future! Love, Pastor Mike How to Join Wise Baptist Church: Express one of the following to the Pastor during the closing hymn: Transfer of Letter Transfer membership to Wise Baptist Church Baptism Desire to express faith in Christ through baptism Statement of Faith Baptized believer not on a membership roll Watch Care Desire to be connected to our Church family without official membership Important Dates Leadership Team Mtg. MUSIC * Youth * Children News WBC Youth Ministry Greetings!! As we are now a couple weeks into the new year, how are your resolutions going? Have you been keeping up with the changes you're making or do you feel like you're slipping back into old habits? Making changes in how you function in life takes time and deliberate action to form new mental pathways that become our new habits. The same is true about our walk with Christ. If you feel as if you are stuck in a rut, make a deliberate choice to draw yourself nearer to Him, such as quiet time for reflection or participating in a faith-based activity with the church or a group of friends. One activity available to you is our choir. Meeting on Sundays at 6pm, our rehearsals are now filled with an excitement that is new to all involved. What better way to try something?? I look forward to seeing you there!! God bless you all!! ~Ben Don t miss out on the fun, fellowship & opportunity to grow in your faith!
