Congregation: The advent of Christ is our hope! Reader: We light the candle to remind us that darkness does not get the last word. A new light is dawning for those who are surrounded by darkness. This is the hope that we are waiting for patiently. We do not see yet. It s coming. It s on the way. Like first light that signals sunrise, like the first rays signal the warmth of the day. That s how our salvation comes to us. Congregation: The advent of Christ is our hope! Let us praise this God who does marvelous things! Reader: Let us praise the God of Hope! *Song: God of Wonders Red Hymnal 4 *We Greet One Another Children s Time Carol: Welcome, Welcome Jesus 2014 John Groen & Veena K. Kulkarni Welcome, welcome Jesus, we re so glad you re here. Welcome, welcome Jesus, our hearts are filled with cheer. Friends and family greet you from both far and near. Welcome, welcome Jesus, we re so glad you re here. (Sing 2x) Children s Blessing (Children in the Preschool Church Hour Class dismissed to Room 27.) *Please stand if you are able.

Prayers of the People We Are Renewed by the Spirit Let us pray to the Lord, saying, in your mercy Lord, save us. Merciful God, You call us to goodness and lead us on right paths. You encourage us with signs of your coming and urge us to keep watch, that we might greet you with heads raised high when you come to restore all of creation. Watching and waiting, we pray for this world that needs your saving power. For nations at war, in your mercy, Lord save us. For all who suffer from violence, in the streets or in their homes, in your mercy, Lord save us. For all who live in worry or fear, For those who have forgotten the ways of righteousness, For those who have never heard of your rescuing love, For all those who have lost hope, or never had it at all, We pray, too, for your church in the world, that we may increase in love for you and your children, and work in confidence for your coming reign. Now by the power of your Holy Spirit, make us ever more faithful, that we may greet you in confidence and joy on that great day; through Christ, in whose name we pray. Amen. *Song: Mighty to Save Red Hymnal 611 We Present our Gifts & Offerings for: The Lord s work through AACRC Offertory: Once in Royal David s City (Instrumental) Scripture Reading: Isaiah 9:2-7 Message: Welcoming Hope We Are Fed by God s Word and Table Songs used with permission UBP OneLicense A-703004 & CCLI #224005

Otherwise, please bring a complimentary side dish, bread, or dessert as well as your own tableware. Advent Calendars AACRC families with children (PreK through 5th grade) will receive an Advent countdown paper chain craft kit in their church mailbox. The interactive activities on each link will help children countdown the days as they open their hearts to share their talents and treasures while waiting to welcome the Wonderful Counselor. As a family, link the colorful self-adhesive paper strips together and apply tape for a more secure hold. Then remove one link for each day of Advent! Please check to see if you are the owner to any of these items.
