Happiness is the result of getting what we want. We tell ourselves we will be happy If If we get our new home If we get the new car If get that raise If we get the bigger TV If, If, If However, getting what we want only offers temporary happiness that soon fades over time. We get our home and we are so happy until we realize that in order to be happy we need new furniture. Or we get the newest video game gadget and we soon lose our excitement because we don t have the newest game. This kind of happiness is dependent on our circumstances. And can sometimes be accompanied with the fear that we could lose whatever it is we feel has made us happy. For the past couple of weeks we have been learning about Joy, joy is a fruit of the spirit. It comes from within and not from external conditions. Jesus said that we are to abide in Him so that our joy can be complete. (John 15:9-11) We experience the joy of the Lord regardless of our circumstances because joy is dependent on our relationship with Jesus not stuff! The apostle Paul instructed the Philippians to rejoice always. (Phil 4:4) And while this group of believers was anxious about material needs, Paul reminded them that their joy came from God. 1. They were oppressed and persecuted by the Romans. 2. They suffered economic Hardship. 3. They were ridiculed for their faith. Yet they had a reason to be joyful. Their lives belonged to the Lord. The World continually tries to persuade us that joy is found in material possessions, worldly achievements, social status and economical prestige. However, true joy comes from the knowledge that we are saved through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Just saying it, writing it and reading it. Gives me great joy. Reap the benefits of His Joy. Let me share a prayer: Lord, please cut through the lies Satan would have us believe about happiness and joy and reveal to me true joy that only comes from Jesus Christ the savior of my soul. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen. May the God of hope fill you with the joy and peace as you trust in Him (Romans 15:13) Love in Christ, Pastor Dean

Anyone (men and women) can be a part of this important ministry through donations of food items, items for the monthly gift bags, gift cards for Walmart or Target, or by coming along for lunch. Please see Linda or Jeanne for more information. Our next visit will be April 25th. Evangelism & Mission Fellowship WORSHIP Discipleship Team Updates: ADULT NURSERY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Many of you may be unaware of an important ministry that Kona Baptist Church offers every Sunday during worship time. We provide a safe and happy place for church attenders to leave their precious children (up to age 5) to be lovingly cared for while they are attending church services. We are in great need for more volunteers. Many of the current volunteers have been doing so for years, and would appreciate some new help. I have enlisted several of the youth girls to assist, and they do so with wonderful enthusiasm, however, we still need to have adults 18 years and older in the nursery with the youth. If you are interested in helping in the nursery, please contact the KBC office, or members of the childcare team (Shirley Ledford, Jeanne Grosso, and Teri Matsumura.) We do ask permission to conduct a background check on all adult nursery workers. Thank you and God bless you for your service, Teri Matsumura 895-4914 * Training: Sound and Video equipment will train anyone interested, Wed. evenings. Volunteer: Needed for updating KBC Web page. Easter Brunch: * Our Church will provide (2) spiral hams, rice and drinks. * Please look for sign-up sheet in the anti-foyer to supply side dishes. Next Drive-thru prayer will be on Saturday April 26 th 9:00am-1:00pm We will be ministering thru pray for the community on this date. Last month we had 11 cars stop, what a wonderful blessing to pray and reach out. One of them attended church. As we look around and see people pass us by, please remember to say a prayer. The world is hurting and some are just waiting to hear that God loves them Working to help spread the Gospel: Annie Armstrong North American Mission Offering Emphasis. Showing that we all need to be planting seeds. Praying that they are firmly planted. We will continue collecting thru Easter. Please continue to give to the offering helping us reach our $3000.00 goal. Drive-thru Prayer has been a blessing! Thank you to all who have been involved. Our next day will be April 26th 9am-1pm Please sign up in Resource Room or see Rhonda The team helped to send two young girls to Girls in Action camp this past week.
