STERN included a PBL designed by the first grade morahs, where the girls researched the concept of ששת ימי בראשית and the fi h grade morahs who designed a PBL on the subject of the makos as they pertained to Chumash. A special yasher koach to Morah Davis for her role as a resource for the morahs as they developed their projects. I would like to congratulate Zahava Giloni, last year s YBH graduate, upon winning Manha an High School s Chidon on Sefer Melachim Alef. When Zahava was congratulated, she a ributed some of her success to the skills and knowledge she acquired at YBH. Mazel Tov, Zahava! As we strive for academic excellence, a key component of the curriculum is ins lling a connec on to learning and inspira on to grow in Avodas Hashem. The excep onal lessons and programs provided by the morahs, combined with our co-curricular ac vi es throughout the year have had a great impact on our students. Yasher koach to our fabulous G.O. and the en re 8th grade for a year filled with ruach through the many programs they ini ated. With the theme song of לכל זמן ועת ringing in our ears, the message of u lizing our me to serve Hashem will remain with them and encourage their con nued growth. Rosh Chodesh Sivan was celebrated with Color War, as the girls experienced an amazing day of achdus and ruach. I was so proud when I heard that girls from each team had assisted their opposing teammates during Color War. Our bulle n board in the lobby has sprouted so many flowers depic ng acts of kindness by girls in grades 1-4, which culminated in a raffle for a beau ful flower necklace designed and created by Mrs. Julie Friedman with our amazing 3D printer. Thank you to Mrs. Friedman for enhancing all our programs with her technological exper se. A tremendous hakaras hatov to the PTA for sponsoring and coordina ng events throughout the year that greatly enhanced the students educa onal experience at YBH. I look forward to seeing all our girls con nue to go מחיל אל חיל and be a source of nachas to us all. Have a great Shabbos and an enjoyable and res ul summer vaca on. Mrs. Chana Frumit Stern, Asst. Principal, Girls Division Dear Parents, As the school year comes to a close, I reflect upon the accomplishments of each student, each class and YBH as a whole. I am overwhelmed with hakaras hatov to each and every morah for their invaluable exper se and ongoing efforts that resulted in a most successful and accomplished למודים.שנת It is a zechus to have such a dedicated and experienced team of morahs as role models for our girls. Our morahs avail themselves of professional resources throughout the year and con- nue to meet with administra on over the summer to reflect and plan for con nued success. I want to share some of the highlights and ini a ves that enhanced the learning experiences for our girls. The most recent event, our Torah Fair, focused on the theme; Detec ng numbers in Tanach. The girls showcased their knowledge and the quality of the lessons taught at YBH was evident in their displays. It was heartwarming to hear from parents how impressed they were with the crea vity, in depth explana ons and meaningful hands-on demonstra ons that were presented at each grade level. The second grade girls descrip- ons of how they overcame a nisayon by emula ng Avraham Avinu, the seventh graders depic on of B nei Yisrael s journey through the midbar, the details of hilchos Shabbos, walking through the gates of the eighth grade exhibit explaining the significance of Shemona Esrei and the brachos, all made for an upli ing experience. The crea vity of the morahs and talmidos was truly magnificent as they produced an enjoyable and educa onal evening for all. We have further developed con nuity and mastery of textual and Rashi skills by administering grade level assessment at the start, middle and end of the school year. It is rewarding to observe and get feedback from the morahs how the girls of all grade levels are u lizing the decoding skills they have mastered to independently learn the text. Throughout the year we have also focused on developing analy cal and cri cal thinking skills by implemen ng the concept of PBL; project based learning. Project based learning allows students to independently research topics and provides greater differen a on to meet the level of all learners. Some examples

Note from Rabbi Wieder: This summer the United States will be treated to one of Hashem's spectacular wonders, a total solar eclipse. On Monday, August 21st, the moon will move into posi on between the earth and the sun causing an eclipse, whereby only the outer fiery ring of the sun, called the corona, will be visible. Although the New Jersey area will not be in the path of totality, we will be treated to approximately 70% totality, depending on loca on. Southern states, specifically Tennessee and parts of South Carolina will have 100% totality. Mrs. Kwestel took part in a program dedicated to helping students under-stand this beau ful phenomenon. She introduced the subject to the 4th and 5th grades and ini ated a project whereby 4th through 7th grade students made pin-hole viewers, with assistance from the middle school teachers, in an cipa on of this event. They all went outdoors and learned how to safely view the eclipse. We hope students will keep their viewers for the eclipse so they can observe Hashem's wonders. Mrs. Weissmann, School Librarian: As the year comes to an end, I would like share how much I enjoyed ge ng to know your children and discover what they like to read. We are always buying new books for the library and I loved hearing sugges ons from your children. I sent an email to let parents know what books your child currently has checked out. Please bring the books to the office so they can be checked back in before the end of the year. If you cannot find a book, or have any other ques ons, please email me at dweissmann@ybhpassaic.org. Wishing you a wonderful summer, Deborah Weissmann ECD HIGHLIGHTS We are so proud of our kindergarten graduates on this huge milestone! 8G at the Bialystoker shul on the Lower East Side Toshiba Exploravision Cer ficates of Achievement awarded to fi h graders Orit Blejer, Tehilla Solomon, Hadassah Levin & Sarah Chava Siegel for their innova ve inven ons. With the knowledgeable and crea ve talents of Mrs. Julie Freidman, YBH Technology Coordinator, the girls learned about cri cal developmentally targeted concepts that are relevant in the face to face realm and how they may be the same and different in the digital world. Themes included communica on and miscommunica on, decision making and self-control, and how to interact with adults and peers in posi ve, prosocial ways. The culmina on of these lessons was a beau ful bulle n board display of posters that the girls made on their computers to promote and share these important messages with others.
