3rd Meal Question Reuven needed a loan of $2000. Shimon lent him $1000 and Levi lent him the other $1000. Then, Reuven put all the money together in the same envelope, without keeping track of which bills came from Shimon and which from Levi. He then went to the money- changer to exchange the dollars for shekels. The moneychanger flipped through the bills, and then pulled on out and handed it back to him. It s fake, he said Reuven took a closer look at the bill and saw that the moneychanger was right. The problem was that he did not know whom the bill came from, Shimon or Levi. He went back to them to tell them what had happened, but each of them insisted that all the bills they had given him were definitely authentic. As long as he could not prove which one had given him the counterfeit bill, he would have to pay the difference from his own pocket or so they claimed. Reuven answered that he would give each of them the $900 that he definitely owed them, and the other $100 they could either share, fight over, or leave for Eliyahu HaNavi to decide, as they pleased. Who is right? Find out during Shalosh Seuda with Rabbi Rothman ~ Join us Next Shabbat in honour of Reb Noach Weinberg zt l
