Abee's Grove ToHave V Homecoming Abee's Grove Bag,tist Church, located on Route 1, Valdese, will observe its first annual homecoming on Sunday, August 30. The program will consist of the regular morning services, dinner on the grounds and a short service following the dinner. The special speaker for the morning service will be Rev. Joe B. Zimmerman, formerly of Valdese. The service will be broadcast by WSVM. Rev. Zimmerman is married to the former Ann Frazier of Valdese. They are the parentsof four children, three daughters and one sun. He is a Navy veteran of World War II. He is a graduate of Francis Garrou High School, Carson-Newman College and Southeastern Baptist Seminary. Rev. Zimmerman has been pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church in Raleigh for the past 4 2 years. He was previously pastor of Concord Baptist Church in Tennessee and Bethany Baptist Church at Wendell, N.C. He has been very active in associational work, holding several offices. Rev. Paul Lovingood is the pastor of Abee's Grove Baptist Church. Roy J. Whitener is Sunday School superintendent, and Miss Edythe Berry is director of Training Union. They and all the members of the church join to invite all former members and friends of the church to the first homecoming... Rev. Joe B. Zimmerman will be the guest speaker l'donday through Sunday at the Asheville ~et B~urch. Services iwill be hel~ch evening at 7:30 o'clock and at 11:00 a.m. on ~unday morning. Rev. Mr. Zimmerman is a 'native of Valdese, presently serving as pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church in Raleigh. He is a graduate of Carson-Newman College and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wake Forest. He is married to the former Miss Ann Frazier of Valdese. Special music will be one of the features of the services, and the "Pack A Pew" plan has also been adopted. Special challenges will be places upon families, deacons, Sunday chool teachers, youth and enagers during the week. The Westfield Baptist Church will hold revival services 8 p.m. nightly n~.~eek, October 20-25, with Rev. Joe B. ~immerman, pastor of Angier Baptist Church, as guest evangelist. A native of Valdese, Rev. Zimmerman has held pastorates in Wendell, Tenn., in Raleigh, and at Sunset Park in. Wilmington. He is a graduate of Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tenn., and Southwestern Seminary at Wake Forest. Zimmerman is married to the former Ann Frazier and the couple have four children, two married and two at home. Each night of the revival young people will hold a songfest prior to the sermon. Eugene Huggins, choir director, will conduct the music and Mrs. Luther Turner will serve as pianist. Pastor John Stephenson anticipates a fine revival and invites the public to attend.
