Royal Lane Baptist Church Diverse People United in Christ THE MOSAIC October 14, 2009 Volume 23 Issue 18 Deacon Ordination and Reception Ordinands Leslie Bright McKinney and Sharon Vickrey will be ordained to the Royal Lane Deaconate Sunday, October 25, 2009 at 10:55 a.m. morning worship. A reception Sean and Jamie Allen and family, honoring Sean s ministry to Royal Lane, will follow worship in Family Hall. Installation Service and Reception Dr. C. David Matthews will be installed as our new Senior Pastor Sunday, November 1, 2009 at the 10:55 a.m. service. The music for that service will feature a combined chorus of RLBC Sanctuary Choir and members of Sacred Song, accompanied by brass ensemble. A reception honoring David and his wife Susan will follow the worship service in Family Hall. Cloth Needed for Paraments We would once again like to acquire special material from members and friends to make paraments [altar tapestries] and a new stole for our new Senior Pastor. Think of a piece of cloth that has some special meaning in your life you could donate to the cause. The expert stitchers of our congregation will fashion them together on our behalf. You may bring your donations to the Church Office no later than Sunday, October 25. Write your name on a note with your donation. Someone said, Being a Christian is like being a pumpkin. God lifts you up, takes you in, and washes all the dirt off of you. God opens you up, touches you deep inside, and scoops out all the yucky stuff including the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc. Then God carves you a new smiling face and puts a light inside you to shine for all the world to see. The next issues of The Mosaic are scheduled for October 28 and November 18, 2009. The deadline for submissions will be 5:00 p.m. Tuesday prior to the date of publication.
News from North Dallas Shared Ministries Dear Royal Lane Baptist Church, There is so much going on at NDSM! This is the first edition of our emailed newsletter that will keep you in the know. We'd like you to share this information with your friends, neighbors, and members of your congregation. Encourage your friends to join our mailing list, too. Judy Rorrie Executive Director NDSM Readies Kids for School NDSM distributed school supplies to 2,461 children before the start of school! In addition, 2,386 children received two sets of school uniforms. The value of this distribution is $102,327.00. What is the value to these families to having their children fully equipped for a new school? Priceless! The number of children served by each of these programs has doubled since 2006. On behalf of these young students and their families, NDSM thanks all generous donors for the success of our 2009 school supplies and uniforms programs. For more information about all the programs at NDSM please visit the website or call us at [214] 358-8700. Administrative Support Needed for Growing Medical Clinic Programs The rapid and wide-ranging expansion of the medical and dental clinics has resulted in the need for greater administrative support. Volunteers are needed to do follow-up patient phone calls and help with patient admit and data base entry. Bilingual skills are especially helpful. Our greatest needs are Monday mornings (9am-noon), Wednesday mornings (9am-noon) and Thursday afternoons (1-4pm). NDSM offers a range of medical services for men, women and children. To learn more about the clinic and how you can help, please contact Nancy Volk (214-358-8720). The outside doors have been re-keyed.
