ROSE OF LIMA PARISH Page 3 Second Sunday of Easter (or of Divine Mercy) A SEASON OF JOY They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to the communal life, to the breaking of bread and to the prayers (Acts 2:42). This first line of today s first reading sets the tone as this fifty-day celebration of Easter opens before us. Today we listen to the teachings of three apostles Luke, Peter, and John who remind us that even though we have not seen Christ, we nonetheless are filled with joy as we place our belief in his saving death and resurrection. Each week during the Easter season we will gather as a community of faith to find strength and support from our God and from one another. Each week we will gather to break bread and offer the great prayer of thanksgiving, actions that will manifest the very presence of the risen Christ in our midst. Let us be open to the wonders of this season of joy. TIEMPO DE ALEGRÍA Acudían asiduamente a escuchar las enseñanzas de los apóstoles, vivían en comunión fraterna y se congregaban para orar en común y celebrar la fracción del pan (Hechos 2:42). Our Community Life Ministry exists to sponsor activities that build our sense of community at St. Rose of Lima. We are in need of help! ROSE OF LIMA PARISH April 23, 2017 10th Annual Ave Maria Youth Conference, PROCLAIM July 14-16, 2017 All high school age youth from incoming freshman to outgoing seniors are invited to attend the 10th Annual Ave Maria University Youth Conference - PROCLAIM - July 14-16, 2017. This incredible weekend will be full of faith, fellowship, and music with great speakers including: Fr. Chris Argano, Vocations Director from the Archdiocese of New York, Fr. Eric Scanlan, Vocations Director from the Diocese of Venice, Michael Gormley (Gomer), Righteous B (Bob Lefnesky), Mary Bielski, EPIC Ministries and music by Martin Doman and the AMU Band. The closing Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Frank Dewane, from the Diocese of Venice. The cost is $175 per person and includes lodging, meals, and conference fee PLUS a cool t-shirt!
