The writer, quite rightly, cricized the Aorney General for his use of Romans in supporng policies that separated immigrant children from their for a moment that if I m not menoning aboron or Sunday Mass obligaon or the death penalty or immigraon that I don t b those things maer. Or that the Catholic Church doesn t have a clear and strong posion about these and many other things the Church thinks about contemporary issues, how she sheds the light of the gospel into our mes, is hardly a secret. Look at this whole business of separang children from their parents at the border. The Pope has cricized it. The US B ference has cricized it. Our bishop has made a statement cricizing the policy. And the Church has done so while prais rent administraon for its policies around aboron. Most of the me we can find something to praise and something to ch every polical party, in every candidate and officeholder, in every administraon. And, frankly, you don t have to be a Catholic insider to get this informaon. The media has covered it. (Sure, somemes wait unl Saturday when a religion page appears in the paper!)
