ORGAN PRELUDE: MORNING WORSHIP SERVICE Sunday, April 14, 2013 10:00 a.m. More Love to Thee, O Christ Robert J. Powell (b. 1932) *[Please stand for the lighting of the candles] CALL TO WORSHIP Sing Praise to God, you who are faithful. We give thanks to the Holy Name of God. God s anger lasts but a moment; God s favor is for a lifetime. Our weeping may last for a night; But our joy comes in the morning. *HYMN: Jesus Calls Us o er the Tumult NCH #172 ANNOUNCEMENTS CREED Leader: We are not alone; we live in God s world. We believe in God: who has created and is creating, who has come in Jesus, the Word made flesh, to reconcile and make new, who works in us and others by the Spirit. We trust in God. We are called to be the Church: to celebrate God s presence, to love and serve others, to seek justice and resist evil, to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen, our judge and our hope. In life, in death, in life beyond death, God is with us. We are not alone. Thanks be to God.
*THE LORD'S PRAYER (trespasses) Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever. Amen. *GLORIA PATRI Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen SCRIPTURE READING: Rev. 5:11-14 ANTHEM: Open Our Eyes Will C. Mac Farlane (1870-1945) Open our eyes, O loving and compassionate Jesus, that we may behold Thee, walking beside us in our sorrow. MOMENT OF MEDITATION OFFERTORY SENTENCE OFFERTORY ANTHEM: The King of Love My Shepherd Is Words: Henry W. Baker (1821-1877) based on Psalm 23 Music based on St. Columba an Irish melody Arranged by Michael McCarthy (b. 1966) The King of love my Shepherd is, Whose goodness faileth never; I nothing lack if I am his And he is mine for ever. Where streams of living water flow My ransomed soul he leadeth, And where the verdant pastures grow With food celestial feedeth. Perverse and foolish oft I strayed, But yet in love he sought me, And on his shoulder gently laid, And home, rejoicing, brought me In death s dark vale I fear no ill With thee, dear Lord, beside me; Thy rod and staff my comfort still, Thy Cross before to guide me. Thou spread st a table in my sight, Thy unction grace bestoweth: And O what transport of delight From thy pure chalice floweth! And so through all the length of days Thy goodness faileth never; Good Shepherd, may I sing thy praise Within thy house for ever. *DOXOLOGY Praise God from whom all blessings flow, Praise God all creatures here below, Praise God above ye heavenly host, Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
