KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS Msgr. James Corbett Warren Memorial Council 5073 905-335-5073 email: kofc@kofc5073.ca NEWSLETTER April 2015 Msgr. J. C. Warren A Message from our Grand Knight Marc Morneau Paul s serving approx. 550 people which I know was well received and appreciated by all. We recruited 6 new members to our Council in the last month with a few more to follow up on. As we continue to work closer with our parishes supporting events at this level, the higher our profile becomes and the on-going objective of new member recruitment will continue. At the last General Meeting we had 40 members (one of our biggest turnouts in recent memory) in attendance who were able to greet and meet our new Chaplain, Rev. Father Ronald Hodera. We also elected 4 new members to the Executive of the Kolumbus Club and accepted nominations for next year s Halton Columbus Charities. Our next General Meeting is on Monday, April 13 where elections will be held for the Halton Columbus Charities and nominations will be accepted for next year s Council Executive. I urge every Brother to get engaged and involved in the many activities of our Council which serves our Priests, Parish and our community. Vivat Jesus Marc Morneau, Grand Knight The month of April brings spring, new life, colours and a fresh outlook for many now that the cold, dark, short days of winter are behind us. In March we had an extremely busy month with a number of Parish focussed efforts. We hosted 3 breakfasts at St. Patrick s, St. John s and St.

A Message from our Deputy Grand Knight Kevin Abraham I am writing this Message after having just returned from degree ceremonies at St. Francis Xavier Parish Mississauga. Our Council has seen a surge in membership recently, adding several new youthful members ready and willing to assist in our charitable purposes. I am hopeful that our new recruits will also attend and participate at our monthly Council meetings every second Monday. GK Marc has struck a Nominating Committee which will be presenting an Officer Slate for 2015/16 Council Year at our next Council meeting on April 13, 2015. I am pleased to report that the KofC International Day of Prayer for the Unborn Child was observed at both St. Matthew and St. Gabriel Parishes on Wednesday March 25, 2015 where KofC Prayer for Life and Rosary to End Abortion prayer cards were distributed to parishioners. I will be attending the KofC Ontario Convention the weekend of April 24-26 with GK Marc and Chaplain Fr. Hodara. If there are any matters that members would like circulated at the Convention please advise. In closing I certainly can be accused of HARPING however, WE CONTINUE TO NEED MORE VOLUNTEERS TO HELP WITH OUR CHARITABLE BINGO. Lenten Reflection: Lord, source of eternal life and truth, give to your shepherd, our Holy Father Pope Francis, a spirit of courage and right judgment, a spirit of knowledge and love. By governing with fidelity those entrusted to his care, may he, as successor of the Apostle Peter and Vicar of Christ, build your church into a sacrament of unity, love and peace for all of the world and may we, in faithful communion with him, always seek to further the pastoral mission of your church. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. Knights of Columbus In Solidarity With Our Holy Father Faithfully in Christ, Kevin Abraham DGK ~ 3 ~
