First Baptist Church Vision Statement The First Baptist Church is the body of Christ, nurturing all parts of the body within, bringing Christ to others and others to Christ. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Church Covenant We, the members of First Baptist Church Bloomfield, having been led by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, and on the profession of our faith, most sincerely and joyfully enter into covenant with one another, as one body in Christ. We pledge, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit: To attend the services of FBC Bloomfield regularly for spiritual nourishment, growth and encouragement: To walk together and watch over one another in Christian love; to remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in times of sickness and difficulty; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation; To contribute cheerfully and regularly, according to our ability, to the support of FBC Bloomfield and its various activities; to support the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world; To strive in our family lives to make Jesus Christ the center of our homes; To cultivate a life of devotion and consecration to God; To aid and assist prayerfully, loyally and affectionately, the ministers and others who seek to strengthen the witness of FBC Bloomfield; To conduct ourselves in accordance with the principles of our Lord, in all our social and business relationships; We enter into this covenant under the leadership of the Holy Spirit, prayerfully asking for Divine guidance and help in this our earnest endeavor.

We invite you to sign the attendance register as it is passed your way and, if you are visiting with us for the first time, we have information for you regarding life at First Baptist. Teacher s needed! Children's worship is in need of a teacher for the third Sunday of each month. Please see Sandy Clark if you would like to share God's love by teaching the children one time each month. Tonight: gods at war Sunday Night Campfire starts a new 6 week study tonight at 6pm. Titled gods at war: defeating the idols that battle for your heart, it addresses the idols that are vying for our love and attention. There are false gods at war within each of us, and they battle for the place of glory and control in our lives. What keeps us from truly following Jesus is that our hearts are pursuing something or someone else. Join the discussion in the Sanctuary at 6pm, dinner to follow in the Fellowship Hall. Faithful Workouts January 12 Faithful Workouts will begin tomorrow evening at 6:30 in the CLC. We will meet each Monday. You may want to bring a mat or towel and exercise bands or small weights if you have them. If you do not it is fine. The exercise is done at the level you are comfortable with variations. You can check out the type of workout at www.faithfulworkouts.com. If you have questions talk with Sandy Clark. Ladies Retreat January 24 FBC will host the 2nd annual "Hearts in Service" Retreat on Saturday, January 24th, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This year's theme is based on Matthew 19:26, "With God All Things Are Possible. Doors will open at 8:00 a.m. The registration fee is $12.00 which includes a continental breakfast, lunch, and the conference. Bill Hudson and our awesome Baptist men will be preparing a delicious luncheon for us. Plan to join us for music, prayer, drama, and fellowship. Registration forms are available on the Library counter. Registration deadline is January 10, 2015. Please make checks payable to First Baptist Church with Retreat in the memo line. Hope to see you there. Invite a friend. Questions can be directed to Debra Hudson or Cheri Campbell. Guitar Club Come work on guitar chords Wednesdays 3-5pm in the Youth Room, or Sunday 5-6pm in the Choir Room. Hone skills while getting encouragement and tips from other guitar players.

Share Your Talents with Special Music! As part of the worship services at First Baptist Church, we do special music once a month during the autumn-winter-spring period. Special music is an opportunity for individuals or ensembles to present uplifting Christian music to enhance the worship experience. We welcome all to share their gifts and talents for the monthly special music Sunday. To sign up, see either Brenda Flanagin or Steve Clark, or sign up on the bulletin board sheet in the Choir Room. Refreshment volunteers We are asking for volunteers to sign up to help provide a Sunday morning snack. Just a little something to welcome everyone on Sunday mornings. It can be brought early if you come to Sunday School or if not just so it s here by around 10:00. The church provides the coffee and paper supplies. There is a signup sheet on the counter in the Narthex or call Carla Porter at 659-2819 or Debra Hudson at 384-4779 and we will be happy to sign you up. Thank you for your help with this mission. Family Friendly Entertainment Now Available at the Church Library! A small portion of the memorial funds that provide for our church library has been used to purchase encouraging DVDs. Story is the language of our hearts (that s why Jesus used stories to share his message). Media is the language of our times. We use both to share Jesus with the world. We are so quick to share a great movie with a friend, so suggest some of the DVD titles from our church library to a friend who could use the message of God s love! These DVDs are available for you to check out and return with consideration to other members of the congregation. Please limit checkouts to two DVDs at a time, and return them within a week. We ask that everyone be respectful with this new addition to church property! If you have DVDs you would like to donate, please let Georgia Flinn, Kimberly Porter, or Tasha Hudson know. DVDs are located on the top left shelf of the library. There is a card checkout box for you to fill out with the DVDs.
