Sunday, January 13, 2019 *Children & Worship will be dismissed during offering* Baptism & Genealogy Luke 3:21-38 Join with us this morning as we celebrate the sacrament of the Lord s Supper. We celebrate an open communion, so if you are a professing member of Christ as your Lord and Savior, we invite you to come to the table as we remember what God has done for us. 5:30 PM Evening Worship - Energetic in Goodness - The Refuge Next Sunday at MRC The Temptation of Jesus Luke 4:1-13 A BIG thank you to Michael Vander Schaaf for the beautiful chalk art this month! Thank you for this welcoming message for all who enter MRC! Church Family Prayer Please keep Bryan Van Gelder in your prayers as he will be having an MRI scan this Wednesday, January 16. Pray that the scan will show no growth on the tumor. Keep Linda Zevenbergen in your prayers as she continues to receive therapy and dialysis. Pray for continued healing and strength for her. And we continue to pray for Isaac S, Brent DK, Val D & Ruth H.

The Good News Circle will be meeting at 7:00 pm (instead of 7:30) tomorrow, Jan. 14. Winter Work Project This year s work project will be in Labelle, Florida from February 15-23. If you are interested, please sign up at the information center or contact Jerry Vermeer with any questions. Sunday Evening Worship in the Refuge TONIGHT we will begin worshipping in the Refuge at 5:30. We will be watching a series from Alistair Begg titled For Goodness Sake. Learn what it means to live a good life in the public sphere, in our daily lives, and in our churches. Paul s letter to Titus, provides a call to Christian citizenship, reminding us what we once were, what we ought to be, and what we are becoming. We will have refreshments after the service! Maurice Women s Ministry presents: Saturday Morning Coffee Talk Saturday January 19 from 9 am to 10 am in the MRC Fellowship Hall ~ Nursery Provided Refining Wellness: Body Image and Finding Joy in Movement By: Tanya Rowenhorst DPT at Refining Wellness We are anticipating our Guatemala trip which is coming up soon! But there is still time to help! We would like to bless the families that we are building for with some house warming gifts. If you would be interested in helping in this way, please check out the clothesline in the fellowship hall to see how you can help! Please have your items brought to church at your earliest convenience, or by Jan. 20 at the latest so we can get them packed into our bags! Thank you so much for your support! Stitches of Love is doing another mission project on Jan. 15 from 1-5 pm in Room 9. Royal Meadows in Sioux Center is asking for more garment protectors for their residents. We are in need of many helpers. We are going to have stations where some can pin, serge them together, turn inside out, iron or top stitch...something for everyone to help out. Please let one of the Stitches gals know if you plan to come, so we know how many to figure on. Thank you! Many hands make light work!! THEY WERE THERE "We joined our Life Group about 7 years ago and have really enjoyed it. They have walked with us in some of our happiest moments and some of the toughest moments of our life. Our Life Group has been there to lift us up in prayer and encourage us when we have needed it most. We would definitely recommend joining a Life Group, ours has been such a blessing for us." - Lane and Sarah Mars. Most Life Groups at MRC will be beginning new studies in February. What groups are beginning what topics will be posted in the bulletin over the next few weeks. This would be a great time to be part of a Life Group. You can talk to the Life Group leader or tell Marissa Maassen or Don De Kok of your desire and they will help find a group for you. It is good to have "A Family Outside of Family".

Pinewood Derby All Pathfinders & Trailblazers (3rd through 5th graders) our annual Pinewood Derby Races will be held on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 10:00, with weigh-in starting at 9:30. If you are interested in participating, please have your parent/guardian sign you up at the information table in the fellowship hall or contact Bonnie Wolf at bwolf@mauricereformed.org. The derby kits will be handed out in the end of January. Check bulletin weekly for more details! Prayer is such an important piece of our relationship with God. Is one of your gifts the gift of prayer? We need you! In 2019 we would like to start a prayer room during Sunday school & have someone committed to praying for our children for the hour they are in Sunday school. There is a sign up at the information table if you are interested! If you have any questions, please contact Bonnie Wolf. Thanks! December Offerings Mission Fund 156,041.37 Sp. ALL ARE WELCOME! Middle School Retreat Hidden Acres Dayton, IA April 5-7 Middle School Retreat is a FUN weekend for middle school students & their adult leaders! The MSR will be at Hidden Acres Christian Center in Dayton, IA (about 1/2 hour south of Fort Dodge). Synod Youth Ministries partners with Northwestern College students to plan an AWESOME weekend of worship, large group sessions, small groups, youth group time, and of course, recreation and games! The theme for this year s MSR is Grit. The definition of the word grit is courage and resolve; strength of character. Middle school students have so much to offer but are consistently pushed down by peers, by superiors, and by society. God sees everyone as worthy and strong. With God, every single person can strengthen their grit within. Beginning January 14, registration will be open on www.synodyouth.org. From the home screen, click on Register Online to begin registering your Jr. GAPper. The cost of the Middle School Retreat will be $100; checks can be written out to Jr. GAP (due by March 6). If cost is an obstacle in any way, please contact Jon Eveland. We will make sure that all that want to go can go and experience this amazing weekend! Power Connection 2019 - Minneapolis, MN July 23-28 Power Connection 2019 is coming! We will again be participating in Power Connection Work Camp (July 23-26 and Power Connection weekend (July 26-28). Our desire is to provide an opportunity for the Holy Spirit to transform the beliefs of students and adult leaders into a lifestyle of faith in Jesus Christ. More details to come! ALL ARE WELCOME! Sr. High Summer International Mission Trip July 13-20 Eaglecrest Alaska Missions We are excited to be partnering with Eaglecrest Alaska Missions (Sutton, Alaska) for our summer mission trip (July 13-20). Though it is not international per se, it is a great distance away, and not part of the lower 48 states and there is great need in the Sutton community for us to come, serve those in need and experience the love of Christ in a much different culture than our own! We will be serving by participating in light construction, relationally with families in need, winterizing homes, chopping wood, potentially helping with a VBS and Summer Day Camp, and perhaps other needs that arise. So far, we have about 30 students who are interested in going, which is awesome! The cost for the trip has not yet been determined, as we await word on the NEXT Gen RCA Scholarship, fundraisers, and airfare costs. NOTE: We will be having a Parents Meeting in the Sr. High Youth Room for this trip on Sunday, February 17 at 10:45 am. This meeting is for the parents of Sr. Highers and leaders planning on joining us for this mission trip. REMINDER: The Sweetheart Banquet will be here soon (Thursday, February 7)! Those interested in helping plan the Sweetheart Banquet, please meet in The Refuge TODAY following the morning service. Students, remember to ask off work for this night!
