Bakas Increase your knowledge about our faith at our weekly Bible study class. You ll have a chance to ask Fr. John questions and engage in interesting discussions with your fellow parishioners in a casual setting. Classes meet in the General Assembly Room. Co-Ed Bible Studies classes are every Tuesday at 11:00 am. SAFE LANDINGS: WHY THE ORTHODOX FAITH Please join our new class taught by our Fr. Chris Kolentsas every Tuesday at 7 pm. This class is an introduction to the Orthodox Faith. 2

PHILOPTOCHOS NEWS Thank you to Virginia Noyes and all who donated for Breast Cancer Awareness in October. Through your generosity and a donation from our Philoptochos chapter, we were able to send $500 to the American Cancer Society for research and early detection programs. Thank you again! NEXT SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 19 TH ANNUAL PHILOPTOCHOS THANKSGIVING LUNCHEON EVERYONE IS INVITED TO JOIN US in the Ted & Maria Maniatakos Ballroom. What wonderful way to start off the Holiday season by enjoying a delicious Turkey luncheon to share with family and good friends! WE WILL BE TAKING PAYMENT AND RESERVATIONS THIS SUNDAY. PHILOPTOCHOS NEWS A special feature at our luncheon. St. Sophia parishioner Joanna Topetzes will be at the Thanksgiving Luncheon, with her jewelry line EVA - Exclusive Vintage Accessories. Joanna is an award winning TV, film and Broadway producer, who first started her line to provide unique, couture jewelry for celebrity and fashion photo shoots. She made her press debut on the runways of LA Fashion Week in 2016. She has now expanded her line of couture vintage jewelry to offer it to women everywhere. PHILOPTOCHOS NEWS SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 18 th ~ LIGHT THE PATH Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Greek Church, Long Beach We encourage you to attend this beautiful Philoptochos event to support our seminarians and students of the Metropolis of San Francisco. Chance tickets to win Christmas trees and lovely boutique items will be for sale at the event. Please indicate if you would like to be seated at our Saint Sophia Philoptochos table! Your support will give scholarships to assist financially and to further the education of our future priests. (see page 9) MEMBERSHIP DUES if you have forgotten to pay your 2017 dues, please stop by the Philoptochos table. Men are also invited and welcomed to join our organization. The MORE members we have, the MORE service we can provide to those in need. Last year we had 202 paid members. Perhaps there was an oversight on your part but we are still hoping to get at least 202 or MORE paid members by the end of 2017! Please do your part! This is a wonderful and dedicated philanthropic group of women who serve the church and dedicated to serving those in need. We need your support. November 19, 2017, Sunday Philoptochos is hosting Thanksgiving Luncheon. Please make your reservations as soon as possible. December 14, 2017, Thursday It is the VIP Christmas Luncheon.
