Whate'er My God Ordains Is Right 1. Whate er my God ordains is right: His holy will abideth; I will be still whate er He doth; And follow where He guideth. He is my God, though dark my road. He holds me that I shall not fall. And so to Him I leave it all, He holds me that I shall not fall. 2. Whate er my God ordains is right: He never will deceive me. He leads me by the proper path; I know He will not leave me. I take, content, what He hath sent. His hand can turn my griefs away, And patiently I wait His day, His hand can turn my griefs away. 3. Whate er my God ordains is right, Though now this cup, in drinking, May bitter seem to my faint heart, I take it all, unshrinking. My God is true; each morn anew. Sweet comfort yet shall fill my heart, And pain and sorrow shall depart, Sweet comfort yet shall fill my heart. 4. Whate er my God ordains is right. Here shall my stand be taken. Though sorrow, need, or death be mine, Yet I am not forsaken. My Father s care is round me there. He holds me that I shall not fall, And so to Him I leave it all, He holds me that I shall not fall. Ending: He is my God, though dark my road. He holds me that I shall not fall. And so to Him I leave it all,

We will be glad and exult in you; We will sing praise to your name, O Most High. The Prayer of Thanks and Invocation Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil; for Thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory, forever, Amen. 4

The Doxology Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heav nly host; Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen. RENEWAL The Call to Renewal Isaiah 6:1-10 1 In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one called to another and said: Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory! 4 And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 And I said: Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts! 6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 And he touched my mouth and said: Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for. 8 And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then I said, Here I am! Send me. 9 And he said, Go, and say to this people: Keep on hearing, but do not understand; keep on seeing, but do not perceive. 10 Make the heart of this people dull, and their ears heavy, and blind their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed. 7

The Prayer of Confession Psalm 25:6-8, 11, 16-18, NRSV Be mindful of your mercy, O LORD, and of your steadfast love, for they have been from of old. Do not remember the sins of my youth or my transgressions; according to your steadfast love remember me, for your goodness sake, O LORD! Good and upright is the LORD; therefore he instructs sinners in the way. For your name s sake, O LORD, pardon my guilt, for it is great. Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. Relieve the troubles of my heart, and bring me out of my distress. Consider my affliction and my trouble, and forgive all my sins. The Silent Confession of Sin The Assurance of God s Pardon 1 John 1:5, 7, 9; 2:1-2 5 This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 2 He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. 8

The Hymn of Assurance There Is a Foundtain Filled with Blood, #253 9

COMMITMENT The Reading of God s Holy Word Psalm 130 Pew Bible Pg. 651 1 Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord! 2 O Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my pleas for mercy! 3 If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? 4 But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared. 5 I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; 6 my soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning, more than watch men for the morning. 7 O Israel, hope in the Lord! For with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with him is plentiful redemption. 8 And he will redeem Israel from all his iniquities. The Sermon Rev.
