God Centred Our worship, fellowship and pastoral care is focussed on God, Father Son and Holy Spirit, which flows out into our mission in the local community and around the world We offer a variety of worship opportunities and different ways of teaching and growing in faith People Centred We welcome all who wish to come into our buildings, for worship, social events and time together. We have safeguarding and protection policies and provide for children and young people Community Centred Our hall is a resource for the local community We are involved in local events and groups, through school, living as good neighbours and caring for the wider world through giving and support
Our Vision Over the next five years we plan to grow our church & serve our community in love for God Father Son & Holy Spirit, through the person in Jesus in the power of the Holy Spirit. We will do this through our Worship, Discipleship and Mission Worship (up) Develop our worship pattern & programme, so that it is more accessible and available Develop our sung worship and musical gifts Develop the prayer life of the church Discipleship (in) Re-establish and develop small groups Teach on stewardship of resources, both financial and personal Mission (out) Develop our occasional offices and the relationships that occur through them, thereby extending our pastoral care provision Provide excellent opportunities for worship and encounter through the church calendar and festivals Explore the next stage in the development of our buildings in both church and hall so they are fit for purpose Explore partnering with mission agencies local & global
How? 2014 Worship (priority) Establish and embed Platform 1 & 2 as a pattern in the life of the church Prepare to recruit a parish assistant with proven gifts in leading contemporary sung worship & family-based outreach Develop a strategy for prayer linked to church vision & values Discipleship Hold H+ as a way of teaching basic Biblical interpretation, leading to establishment of a new small group Use Lent as another opportunity to establish a small group Stewardship: personally thank all those who have planned giving and ask them & others to reconsider their giving Mission Run one short beginners course with meal Complete Child Friendly Church award
Hold Experience Christmas/Remembrance event in the autumn term Recruit another street pastor from congregation 2015 Discipleship (priority) Revisit the lessons learnt through H+ and assist a new home group and leader to develop Revisit Giving in Grace in both P1 & 2 Teaching on keeping going making sure that we re resourcing for faith and not exhausting those who lead or worship Develop a visiting team, identify members, offer training, follow up on bereavement & support Forget me Not s in their development Youth group for Year 6/7 Worship Recruit a parish assistant with proven gifts in leading contemporary sung worship & family-based outreach Begin to see gifts in use from congregation members in P1 & 2, particularly readers, prayers, leaders and at least one new preacher
Mission Experience Easter & maybe Remembrance if not in 2014 Launch active partnership with global mission agency, sponsoring a specific mission partner 2016 Mission (priority) P1 & P2 both begun to show signs of growth, with at least 2 3 new households/families fully involved in each one & 2 3 other households on the fringes of them Baptism prep & links with young families leads to greater input & involvement with Kingfishers Worship Young people fully involved in P2, gifts used in PPT/music/etc etc Discipleship Short courses: Moving on or Pilgrim, plus Lent course, teaching on leading prayers & reading in church for those developing these ministries
2017 onwards Worship Worship enables individuals to encounter God and the community as a whole is encouraged Discipleship Individuals are engaged in worship, growing in faith, aware of how they interpret the Bible and ready to explain their faith to others Age profile is growing younger, young people have grown up and at least 1 PCC member is under 25 Those in pastoral need are cared for (by the pastoral care team) Parish residential retreat Mission Total of 4 5 new families/households fully involved and 4 5 more on fringe (including those in first 3 years)
Fabric 2014 2020 To fulfil our quinquenial obligations (including car park surface etc) Over time explore the use, function & aspect of the buildings so that they re fit for purpose, to enable us to fulfil this vision under God Adopted by the PCC March 2014
