Also, kindly refrain from audible conversation to respect those wishing to pray and listen to the organ prelude. Thank you. ORGAN - Prelude Franciszek Przystal (1889-1962) THE ENTRANCE RITE AT THE PROCESSION: HYMN 680 - St. Anne COLLECT FOR PURITY Prayer Book, page 323 KYRIE ELEISON from Requiem Mass W.A. Mozart (1756-1791) THE COLLECT OF THE DAY O God, the Maker and Redeemer of all believers: Grant to the faithful departed the unsearchable benefits of the passion of thy Son; that on the day of his appearing they may be manifested as thy children; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

THE LITURGY OF THE WORD THE LESSON A Reading from the Wisdom of Solomon The souls of the righteous are in the hand of God, and no torment will ever touch them. In the eyes of the foolish they seemed to have died, and their departure was thought to be a disaster, and their going from us to be their destruction; but they are at peace. For though in the sight of others they were punished, their hope is full of immortality. Having been disciplined a little, they will receive great good, because God tested them and found them worthy of himself; like gold in the furnace he tried them, and like a sacrificial burnt offering he accepted them. In the time of their visitation they will shine forth, and will run like sparks through the stubble. They will govern nations and rule over peoples, and the Lord will reign over them forever. Those who trust in him will understand truth, and the faithful will abide with him in love, because grace and mercy are upon his holy ones, and he watches over his elect. (3:1-9) Lector The Word of the Lord. People Thanks be to God. GRADUAL - Dominis regit me 1 The LORD is my shepherd; * I shall not be in want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures * and leads me beside still waters. 3 He revives my soul * and guides me along right pathways for his Name's sake. 4 Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil; * for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You spread a table before me in the presence of those who trouble me; * you have anointed my head with oil, and my cup is running over. 6 Surely your goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, * and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. Words: Psalm 23 Music John Goss (1800-1880) THE SECOND LESSON - A Reading from the First Letter of Paul to the Thessalonians We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who have died, so that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died 2

and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have died. For this we declare to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will by no means precede those who have died. For the Lord himself, with a cry of command, with the archangel's call and with the sound of God's trumpet, will descend from heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up in the clouds together with them to meet the Lord in the air; and so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words. (4:13-18) Lector The Word of the Lord. People Thanks be to God SEQUENCE: HYMN 526 Dundee THE HOLY GOSPEL of our Lord Jesus Christ according to John People Glory be to thee, O Lord. Jesus said, "Very truly, I tell you, anyone who hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life, and does not come under judgment, but has passed from death to life. Very truly, I tell you, the hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. For just as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself; and he has given him authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of Man. " (5:24-27) Deacon The Gospel of the Lord. People Praise be to thee, O Christ. THE SERMON Dean Vang The Creed is omitted at a Requiem Eucharist. THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE Celebrant Let us pray for all who suffer as a result of conflict, and ask that God may give us peace. Deacon For the service men and women who have died in the violence of war, each one remembered by and known to God; Give peace in our time, O Lord: and grant us thy salvation. For those who love them as in life, offering the distress of our grief and the sadness of our loss; Give peace in our time, O Lord: and grant us thy salvation. 3

For all members of the Armed Forces who are in danger at this time, remembering family, friends and all who pray for their safe return; Give peace in our time, O Lord: and grant us thy salvation. For civilian women, children, and men whose lives are disfigured by war or terror, calling to mind in penitence the anger and hatreds of humanity; Give peace in our time, O Lord: and grant us thy salvation. For peacemakers and peacekeepers, who seek to keep this world secure and free; Give peace in our time, O Lord: and grant us thy salvation. For all who bear the burden and privilege of leadership: political, military, and religious: asking for gifts of wisdom and resolve in the search for reconciliation and peace. Give peace in our time, O Lord: and grant us thy salvation. Celebrant O God of truth and justice, we hold before you those whose memory we cherish, and those whose names we will never know. Help us to lift our eyes above the torment of this broken world, and grant us the grace to pray for those who wish us harm. As we honor the past, may we put our faith in thy future; for you are the source of life and hope. Amen. Celebrant and People Lord Jesus Christ, when you come among us, you proclaim the Kingdom of God in this and every place: Grant that your presence and power will make this parish church a home of spiritual refreshment and healing. We acknowledge our thankfulness to you for the generosity of those who have and continue to support our Capital Campaign. Continue to open our loving hearts so that our mission may prosper and your Name be glorified. This we ask through the same Christ our Lord. Amen. CONFESSION OF SIN Celebrant Let us humbly confess our sins unto Almighty God Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against thee in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved thee with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of thy Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in thy will, and walk in thy ways, to the glory of thy Name. Amen. 4

The Celebrant concludes with an Absolution. THE PEACE Celebrant People The peace of the Lord be always with you. And with thy spirit.
