Connection Congratulations to Catholic Charities Counseling Program in St. Lucie County for being a part of the Strengthening Families Program which was recently ranked the TOP Strengthening Families Program in the nation! The St. Lucie County s Strengthening Families Program is comprised of Catholic Charities, CASTLE, New Horizons of the Treasure Coast, Family Preservation Services and Hibiscus Children s Center. The Gold Medal Award is awarded to the program that displays improvement in the areas of family change, parenting change and child outcomes. Since 2005, Strengthening Families in St. Lucie County has served over 3,400 family members by providing better parenting skills to moms and dads, social skills to children and better family communication and coping skills. Most Reverend Gerald M. Barbarito, Bishop of Palm Beach The Most Reverend Gerald M. Barbarito was installed as the fifth Bishop of the Diocese of Palm Beach on August 28, 2003. Prior, he was installed in 2000 as the 12 th Bishop of the Diocese of Ogdensburg, N.Y. In 1994 he was ordained a Bishop and served as the Auxiliary Bishop of Brooklyn, N.Y. He has served as a member of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), Committees for Canonical Affairs, on the Relationship between Eastern and Latin Rite Catholic Churches and also served as a Board of Directors Member for the Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. (CLINIC). He is currently a member of the USCCB s Committee on the Protection of Children and Young People and Vice President of the Florida Catholic Conference and Episcopal Liaison for its Education Committee. Annie Karto Annie Karto is a speaker who ignites others through her music. She is a motivational singer and composer who has appeared on EWTN.
