Our weekly worship themes are Watch! Prepare! Witness! Welcome! and Rejoice! Please join us each Sunday as we anticipate again the coming of the Christ Child into our world! Bethany Hoffer has been unanimously affirmed for ordination by our District Ministry Commission and District Board! Now it is our turn to affirm her for ordination, which we will do as part of our worship service this morning. This is an exciting time for us, as those who have called forth Bethany's gifts for ministry and supported her preparation for ordination! Assuming strong affirmation, a service of ordination is being planned for early 2019. Advent Devotions are here! Advent is a time for engaging God s word and grounding ourselves in the hope of the kingdom rather than personal wishes and desires. Wait and Hope, by Rhonda Pittman Gingrich, is the 2018 Advent Devotional from Brethren Press that has been distributed to church mail slots, mailed to shut in s, and available in the Welcome Center and office. The L.I.F.E. Class will be holding a four week discussion series following the 2018 Advent Devotional Wait and Hope. All are invited to join the discussion today at 10:30 in the parlor. New Beginnings class will be discussing today through January 6, Waiting & Hoping, based on the Advent Devotional by Rhonda Pittman Gingrich. The altar flowers are given in loving memory of our daughter Sherry and in honor of her son Jeremy, our grandson, by Roy & Jean Summers. The Peace Action Team announces that Rabbi Samuel Yolen will share his views on the latest rise in Anti-Semitism on December 6, at 7:00 p.m., at the Salem UCC in Campbelltown. Caring Cupboard Holiday Drive! On Sunday, December 30, everyone is invited to gather in the Fellowship Hall during the intergenerational Sunday school hour to assemble gift boxes to share the joy of the season with the clients of the Caring Cupboard. These boxes will be filled with non- food items that clients are in need of. Various groups within the congregation are asked to donate specific items. Please donate single items one roll of toilet tissue, for example. Drop off your donation to the table in the Welcome Center. Children: toothbrush, toothpaste, or Band-Aids Third Grade - Junior High: Q-Tips, shampoo, or dental floss Young Adults: fragrance-free dryer sheets, lotion (screw-on cap), or deodorant JOY Class: fragrance-free laundry detergent, razors, or paper towels LIFE Class: toilet paper, window cleaner, or hand soap (screwon cap) New Beginnings: bar soap, counter top/all-purpose cleaner, or antacid tablets (Tums) Balcony Buddies (you know who you are!): hand sanitizer, feminine hygiene product, or dish soap Music Staff & Musicians: Tylenol/Ibuprofen tablets, or baking soda Individuals not in one of the above groups: mouthwash, or tissues.
