Page 2 From Pastor Emily Welcome to 2019! Happy New Year rings out this time of year. We share this greeting with friends and strangers a like. It is a time to reflect on all we have done up to this point and start setting out our new goals and plan for 2019. It is a season where we make resolutions to get rid of all the extra weight from enjoying our Christmas gatherings bountifully. We plan our days, set our new routines, and try to fit in what is most important. This year, as we round the corner into our new year, let s think together about what God is leading us toward. With God at the center of our prayer, worship, discipleship and calendars what do those routines, appointments, and schedules hold? What is God teaching us this season? Maybe it is to be quiet, to stay home when it snows. Accept the invitation to find time again to be faithful about our scripture reading and times of meditation. Look for people to pray for and ways to stay connected to those we love. Keep the spirit of faith at the heart of all you are doing. Enjoy the newness, the fresh open pages in the calendar. Look forward to those things you know that will be particularly dear this year. Also, leave room for the unexpected. Keep margins in your life for what God is doing. Together at church we will be celebrating our birthdays at the Birthday pot luck on Jan. 6 right after worship. We will welcome new members on Jan. 13. If you would like to join the church and haven t let Pastor Emily know yet, please do so by Jan. 10. We will be looking forward to confirmation classes for our youth who are ready to affirm their faith for themselves. Again, please let Pastor Emily know if you are interested in participating in Confirmation. We will need Mentors as well; you may be asked by one of our youth to help them during this process. We will also be praying for the delegates who will go to General Conference 2019 in St. Louis. The special prayer time will take place at Long s Peak UMC at 5:30pm. For all committee and team leaders and new members to teams, please plan to attend the Leadership Training at Loveland First UMC on Jan. 19 th from 9-11am. It will help them to know who plans to show up, so please RSVP to Bill Cosbey at bcos7@outlook.com or Judy Stout at jstout@lpbroadband.net. Thank you for your careful attention to God s purpose, God s Voice, God s Vision and God s Values. Grace and peace, Pastor Emily will most likely be in the office the following days/hours: Mon: 9:00-5:00 Tues: 9:00-2:45 Wed: 9:00-5:00 Thurs: 9:00-2:45 Please feel free to make an appointment as well. Hello, Everyone. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and an awesome start to the new year! I would like to start off by thanking everyone for all your support. It is very much appreciated. I have learned so much over the past year. I hope I have been able to pass some of that on to the kids that participate in our youth group. As the new year starts, we are very much focused on the mission trip to Puerto Rico. With this in mind, we have some fund raisers to tell you all about. The youth will be selling Berthoud United Methodist Church t-shirts. The t-shirts are red with white graphics. The front left chest area will display the United Methodist Church logo. The back will display a tree incorporating our church mission statement of serving, nurturing, and sharing through God s love. The church website will also be printed on the right arm sleeve. These t-shirts will be sold for $20 each. You can contact myself, or any of the youth group members to get an order in for your t-shirts. Valentine s Day is coming up as well. This year the youth group will be hosting a movie night for adults to drop their kids off so they can have some time to themselves for Valentine s Day. This event will be February 14 th from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. There will be refreshments as well as volunteers to help keep the kids entertained. Although everyone is welcome, we do ask that participating children be 5 years of age and older. Finally, the youth group will be hosting a skate party at Rollerland in Fort Collins on March 28 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. This fund raiser requires that we try to get as many people to come skating at that time as we can. We will be getting flyers to the schools, around town, and on social media. Rollerland will then donate a portion of the earnings towards the youth group s efforts to raise money for the mission trip to Puerto Rico. As the new year begins, let s look forward to the many things we can accomplish in God s name. Through Him, all things are possible. I hope you all have a great month of January as we look forward to all the memories that will make this new year a great one! Thank you all for your support! Ruben Carrillo Youth Coordinator
