Girl Scouts: Brownie leader desperately needed for the St. George Brownie Troop. At this time, the leader for that group had to step down, and there is nobody to lead the girls. This person would only need to help the girls work towards badges. Everything else will be handled by the Junior Troop leader (field trips, cookies, etc). This is a very rewarding position to anyone from our Community who is interested. Please contact Jason Cote (603-540-2800) for details Thank you! The Trustees of the Greater Manchester Hellenic Scholarship Fund: Invite qualified high school seniors, college freshmen, and college sophomores to apply for 2014 scholarships. Penelope s Place Penelope s Place is a residential program for individuals and families fleeing from life-threatening situations as a result of domestic violence. In 2009, it formed a new partnership between its parent organization, Health Imperatives, in Brockton, MA and the Daughters of Penelope Bay State District #8. Trained professionals help residents of Penelope s Place to balance their healing from trauma with their need to acquire critical life skills to prepare for transitions into more independent living. Our local chapter of the Daughters of Penelope has a box in the lobby of the Community Center. It is labeled with a Wish List for residents of Penelope s Place. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. Nicole Wu, President 603-965-4136

GEORGE GREEK ORTHODOX CATHEDRAL 650 HANOVER STREET MANCHESTER, NEW HAMPSHIRE 03104 TELEPHONE: (603) 622-9113 SCRIPTURE READINGS FOR SUNDAY, JANUARY 5, 2014 THE APOSTOLIC READING St. Paul's Second Letter to Timothy 4:5-8 O Lord, save your people and bless your inheritance. Verse: To you, O Lord, I have cried, O my God. TIMOTHY, my son, always be steady, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfil your ministry. For I am already on the point of being sacrificed; the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.
ST. GEORGE GREEK ORTHODOX CATHEDRAL 650 HANOVER STREET MANCHESTER, NEW HAMPSHIRE 03104 TELEPHONE: (603) 622-9113 SCRIPTURE READINGS FOR SUNDAY, JANUARY 5, 2014 Sunday before Epiphany The Gospel of Mark 1:1-8 The beginning of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. As it is written in Isaiah the prophet, 'Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who shall prepare your way; the voice of one crying in the wilderness: prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.' John the baptizer appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. And there went out to him all the country of Judea, and all the people of Jerusalem; and they were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins. Now John was clothed with camel's hair, and had a leather girdle around his waist, and ate locusts and wild honey. And he preached, saying, "After me comes he who is mightier than I, the thong of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. I have baptized you with water; but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."
