COURSE DESCRIPTION A survey of the theology, history, culture, politics, and methods of the Christian mission, with special emphasis on recent developments, crucial issues, and future trends, ending with a careful study of missions in the local church. 此课程是对基督教宣教的基础认识, 透过神学教义, 历史演进, 文化, 政治, 及宣教方法来认识宣教 课程也会大致涵盖最近宣教发展, 重要议题, 未来趋势 有关本地教会的宣教方法也会涉及 II. III. COURSE REQUIREMENTS 课程要求 Final Exam 40% The Final Exam will cover material discussed in class and from the texts. Reading 10% All students will fill out a reading report. The Reading Report will be filled out on Populi. Weekly Assignments/ Discussion Groups Required Field Trip 10% Students are required to visit a missions organization. You may go by yourself, in a small group, or in a large group (I encourage you to go in groups.) You are required to turn in a one page report. Include: Time and place of the visit. Name of the organization and the person/people you talked. Ask your contact what their organization does that is different than any other organization. Also ask how they integrate missions ministry and the local church. You may also ask other questions. Briefly describe your interview with them in your one page report. The visit should last about 30-90 minutes. DUE: October 29 Participation in Missions Week or Special Missions Activity 10% TBA (Wednesday). We will work with the seminary concerning what role we can play in the Missions Week activities or other Wednesday service. (Or, alternatively, you may also create Missions Poster or short 1-2 minute missions video. The poster or video is to be a creative work that will be displayed during missions week. You can, for instance, choose a missionary and prepare an artistic and inspiring presentation of their life and missions work. Use pictures, drawings, artwork, text, etc. Be creative and have fun!) Part time students: Part time students who will not be able to participate in the Missions Week or chapel can complete the poster/video assignment.
