JANUARY 13, 2019 I THE FEAST OF THE BAPTISM OF THE LORD My Dear Parishioners: Today is a beautiful Feast in the Church: the Baptism of the Lord. I want to invite you all to consider your own baptism. What difference has it made in your life? Are you being faithful to the vows you made or your parents made for you on that day to reject sin and refuse to be mastered by it and to believe in the Father, Son, and Spirit? Today is an opportunity for us all to recommit ourselves and renew these vows we ve made to the Lord. The Lord, Jesus humbled Himself and submitted to baptism by John even though He was free of sin. Do we humble ourselves and submit to living out our baptism calling every day? Please know that I care for you on your journey of Faith and your life of baptismal grace. If you need anything from me that would help your life of Faith, please visit with me. 9:00 & 11:00 Babysitting is available in the Cathedral Center Grace Suite for children ages 6 months 3 years. Spiritual Adoption of an Unborn Baby Since 1973 over 50 million American children have lost their lives & many families have been destroyed in the name of choice. Your prayers make a difference! Say this prayer everyday for nine months to save a child s life. Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to protect the life of the unborn baby that I have spiritually adopted. Mary, our Mother in Heaven, pray for us, and especially for your little ones! Because God loves every baby He creates, I promise to pray for my spiritually adopted baby for 9 months. Adapted in part from Archbishop Fulton Sheen s Spiritual Adoption of an Unborn Baby. Baby s Name: (named by you) Start Date: During your earthly life, this baby is known only to God, but in the world to come, it is hoped that you will meet the one whose life was spared by your prayers and spend eternal happiness with them. If we look forward to receiving God's mercy, we can never fail to do good so long as we have the strength. For if we share with the poor, out of love for God, whatever he has given to us, we shall receive according to his promise a hundredfold in eternal happiness. What a fine profit, what a blessed reward! With outstretched arms he begs us to turn toward him, to weep for our sins, and to become the servants of love, first for ourselves, then for our neighbors. Just as water extinguishes a fire, so love wipes away sin.
