What was it all about? Remembering. Yom HaShoah is the Hebrew for Holocaust Remembrance Day, remembering some six million Jews who were murdered for being Jewish. This year s observance took place on April 23rd. Yom HaShoah begins in Israel at sundown in a state ceremony held at Yad Vashem, which is the Holocaust Memorial Center. During the ceremony, the Israeli flag is lowered, the president and prime minister both speak, Holocaust survivors light six torches symbolizing the six million Jews who perished and Rabbis recite prayers. On this day of Yom HaShoah most all business are closed. Israeli television airs Holocaust documentaries and Holocaust-related talk shows, at 10:00 a.m. an air raid siren sounds throughout the Save the Date! 2 3 MASTER MINDED MINISTRIES Yom HaShoah and The Persecution of Christians Continued by Pastor Dave country and Israelis observe two minutes of solemn reflection. Everyone stops what they are doing, including motorists who stop their cars in the middle of the road or on the freeways, stands beside their vehicles in silence as the siren is sounded. This is perhaps the most solemn day of the year. ever died for their faith did so in this century alone, some 35 million! The top ten persecuting countries are: Burma/Myanmar, China, Egypt, Iran, Laos, North Korea, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan (two million since 1985) and Vietnam. According to the United States Department of State, Christians in more than 60 countries face persecution from their governments or surrounding neighbors simply because of their belief in Jesus Christ. It is vital to remember that these are not just numbers. These stats represent a real life that was either taken or harmed. Each number is someone's mother, father, brother, sister, friend. On the same day this year, the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres vowed to take action to end anti-semitism and called denial of Israel s right to exist a modern form of anti-jewish hatred. This was HUGE! In a speech Sunday night at the World Jewish Congress Plenary Assembly in New York, Guterres said he could not control all expressions of bias against Israel at the United Nations, but he said Israel has the right to be treated like any other U.N. member state. A modern form of anti-semitism is the denial of the right of the State of Israel to exist, Guterres said. As secretarygeneral of the United Nations I can say that the state of Israel needs to be treated as any other state, with exactly the same rules. Here are two truths that really are life and death issues: anti-semitism is on the rise, and Christians are being targeted in greater numbers than ever before in history. It still matters what we do. I encourage you to stay informed and make some noise! Israeli and United States officials, along with supporters of Israel, have long accused the U.N. of irredeemable bias against Israel. According to U.N. Watch, a pro-israel group that monitors the international body, the U.N. General Assembly condemned Israel 20 times in 2016, compared to six condemnations for the rest of the world combined. Think about this The Axis of Evil nations, North Korea, Iran, Russia, Syria, Somalia, Libya do some homework, and you ll see the insane thinking of the U.N. to target the only democracy in the Middle East. Israel? Really? Israel certainly isn t perfect, for sure, but its imperfections are far from inhumane treatment of people and devaluation of human life. In fact, Israel is the only place in the entire Middle East where it s safe to live if you re a Christian. Every year 163,000 Christians die for their faith. Half of all the Christians who have 2

1 2 MASTER MINDED MINISTRIES Life After Egypt By Jerri McGarrah Is it Really about deliverance? I ve had this little title brewing for a while, and I wondered what I could say about this. I ve loved researching the book of Exodus for years and looked at different angles and contemplated what the Lord was saying and doing. So, now, after Passover and Easter it s a good time to go look at Life After Egypt. You ve heard and remembered that after 400 years in Egypt, and obviously overstaying their welcome, the Jews threatened the nationals by just their shear numbers. They had been given and gotten used to the best and most productive land in Egypt. Living there initially had been really good, but after losing their favored status and then being promoted to slavery, which led to harsh persecution, life had become unbearable. Their cries did not go unnoticed by God. Through the process Moses underwent, they were delivered. So, here s what I really want you to know about this. With every promise, there is a process. I wish that there were some magic formula to take us to the very outcome of the promise, but that rarely, if ever happens. We hate that, and especially in our world of want it now and get out of my way, it seems that we are continually promoting and fostering that entitlement attitude. So, what was the point of the process that Israel went through being delivered from Egypt? First of all, they became a family. The great division that happened prior to Egypt was threatening the cohesiveness that, I believe, God desires in the family. You see, when we just see our families, we don t realize that God desires to build us into a nation! Think about that for a while. 3 What our nation deals with is the result of our families, our values, our morals, our integrity and character. Do you wonder what is happening in our nation? Look first to the families; what you see happening there will overflow into what our nation is becoming. Israel had to endure the good and the bad together to make them a cohesive nation-going together, working together, standing with and for each other. The process leading toward the promise was working. They were united as a nation when they left Egypt. Then the wandering in the wilderness. What was the promise to them there? It was the Promised Land of freedom, food and fortune. What happened when they lost sight of Who their God was? They had to repeat their steps for 40 years! Those who could not and would not learn stayed in the desert, because their inability to overcome the slave mentality became their death sentence. What was the intention of the process? It was to find their true identity and relationship with the God, Who had made an earlier promise to their father, Abraham. See, here is another great perspective God will do what He says He will do, and even if we don t see the outcome of the promise here, He will do what He says He will do. In the Hall of Faith chapter, Hebrews 11:39-40 gives a litany of champions who demonstrated their faith in the promise of God. Even though they didn t see the outcome of

MASTER MINDED MINISTRIES Life After Egypt, continued their faith, it didn t stop them from trusting God. These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised. God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect. Would it be outrageous to think that there could be more to the promise than the immediate outcome that I want? Could it be possible that what God allows in the process of the promise of my life, He sees affecting my children and their children? And that it could revolutionize the destiny of our family? Just saying... What is the process, then that I need to understand? First, deliverance may not mean that I m free. There may be a deliverance process that I need to pay attention to. The first thing I see in the Israelites as they travel through the wilderness is that every time they don t have what they need, they turn into whiners and decide that Egypt wasn t so bad. Sound familiar? Complaining that things are not going our way, or the way we thought they should, results in bad attitudes and behavior, hum-mm. Okay, then, what s the alternative? Maybe not dancing and singing, but maybe pressing into the Father to meet our needs? The process again is relationship building. How do we do it? Next case. When Moses goes up the mountainside to meet with the Lord and leaves the people to their own devices, they make a golden calf and have a party of indulgence and sin. It makes me wonder if they had no consciousness of what was sin. Have you ever seen children do that? They make the hugest mess and destroy things and then act like they didn t know? Why didn t they do this while you were present? Of course they knew! Maybe the process here was to attain self-discipline. Are you capable, reliable and determined to do what is right without supervision? Can you hold on in the storm, believing without complaint? Can you live intentionally holding the line? The processes go on and on, and even with 40 years of wilderness training, there are always new challenges that cause people to learn and grow and develop. So the point of Egypt and life afterward is that with every promise there is a process. Let s not miss the journey, because it is a refining one. The process prepares us for the outcome. If you miss a point, just keeping walking, because I m sure that you will get a repeat lesson it until you do get it! Financial Update on Master Minded Ministries The average monthly needs for the radio programs are $2500. The average monthly expenses total is $3500. This includes the website, software, guest speakers, travel expenses and office supplies. Received for January - $2370.00 February - $4465.00 March - $5130.00 So you can see that each month varies and sometimes hits our target and sometimes runs a little less. We are profoundly grateful for each and every gift that allows us to continue on with this work. Currently we are working toward helping get some folks to Washington DC for the CUFI summit. Our hope and prayer is that we can help our supporters to get a taste of what God is doing through our work and the work of Christians United for Israel. We are looking for interested college students who are interested as CUFI totally underwrites the cost of their involvement. Do you know someone? Let us know! All contributions are tax deductible. 4
