Your Financial Stewardship For the week ended Dec 25, 2018 Weekly Envelopes...... $ 31,751.00 Offertory Loose...... $ Weekly Joyful Giving Budget...... $ 1,580.00 23,363.00 Christmas Envelopes...... $ 7,207.00 This weekend we celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany. The word means to make known or to make manifest. What are we discovering this weekend? We are remembering the arrival of the wisemen to Bethlehem. The wisemen were from Persia or beyond and they were not Jewish. Yet, they came and acknowledged Christ to be a King and a Deity. We see in them a foretelling that the Messiah was meant for persons beyond the Jewish people. He is meant for all of us! This is what is made known. For this reason the Church has always celebrated this event with great joy. Even more than Christmas at one time! It is the traditional twelfth day of Christmas. So if you can, keep the celebration going! As we approach the more wintery days of this time of year, it is helpful to review our Mass policy. It s pretty common sense, yet is worth reviewing. So here we go: If you feel it is not safe to drive, you are excused from Mass. If you are sick with the flu or any medical malady that makes Mass difficult or could infect others, you are excused from Mass. If there is a snowstorm, it may be wise not to come. If school is cancelled or delayed during the week, the morning Mass or communion service is cancelled. If you are sick with a cold, flu or bug, please abstain from drinking from the cup. Let reflection and our common sense policy rule the day. Though knowing from my own life, that is not easy! Please start keeping in prayer our March for Life students who will be on retreat this coming weekend preparing for the March for Life in Washington D.C. at the end of the month. The students wrote qualifying essays on how they would evangelize their peers regarding the truths of the dignity of human life from conception to our natural death. I look forward to sharing with you some of the ideas our students thought of and how we can implement some of them here at our parish. There is so much hope for the future, it is good to remember that the young Church is alive and faithful. The work of evangelization is always with us. As older disciples are called home to God, he helps us raise up new disciples, to love, teach, serve and carry on the mission. Please begin praying for us going on the 2019 March for Life towards the end of January. We will pray for you! Fr. Mark Vander Steeg
January 5 & 6, 2019 PAGE 3 Epiphany of Our Lord the Gentiles are co-heirs, members of the same body, and co-partners in the promise in Christ Jesus through the Gospel. (EPHESIANS 3:6) Today we celebrate that Christ came to all of us, not just the Hebrews. He has given each of us unique gifts. We all have different yet equal valuable roles in the Body of Christ. Pray daily and ask God how He wants you to use your gifts so that we may all be one. The best Catholic content in one place. It s EASY and FREE to Register! 1. Go to: www.stbernardgb.formed.org 2. Ecumenical Partnership for Housing Envelope In the January Church Offering Envelope that you received in the mail recently is a gold envelope for the Ecumenical Partnership for Housing. Please consider a late holiday offering to EPH as the need to provide shelter and housing for homeless families in Brown County is an on-going task. EPH is the bridge between homelessness and independence. The transitional housing they provide is considered post-emergency as many clients are referred by Freedom House, Golden House or the House of Hope. But last year, more than half of our families came right off the street, quite a few from their cars. This makes the need much more urgent and unexpected. Please help EPH help those in need of transitional housing in our community. Please consider a donation today. Thank you. Moved, Dropped your land line or changed your e-mail address?
