Appeal for Various Supplies for the Church At our recent finance committee meeting, a suggestion was made to reach out to the congregation to ask for various items that we might acquire to assist in some small way to help with the church budget in a couple of the lesser categories such as the office, cleaning supplies and/or hygiene kits/food pouches. Below is a list of possibilities that you might chose to bring in: Office Supplies Multipurpose paper (Any brand will do but use these specifications) White, 96 bright, 20 lbs., 8 1/2" X 14" Note: reams or cases For example, maybe 2 or 3 people want to go together to buy a case. Did You Know? Did You Know will be a new section in the monthly Tidings, as well as our weekly Tiny Tidings. It will consist of things you may not know about Chino United Methodist. If you are in a small group or a committee, please send along any information you think others may not know and we ll try to get it in here. Any history of the church would also be appreciated. Did you know that you can request prayers in 3 different ways? 1) On Sunday mornings, there s our set aside time for Prayers of the Community; 2) There are prayer request forms in the pews. You can find these with the offering envelopes. If you don t see any, ask an usher or check a nearby pew; 3) You can add to and/or be on our prayer chain via email. If you d like to be on the prayer chain or request prayers, you can contact the church office (909)- 628-1107 or send an email at chinoumc@yahoo.com or office@chinoumc.org. Did you know the United Methodist Church has a newsletter called United Methodist Now - Inspiration for Daily Living? http://www.umc.org/what-we-believe/united-methodistnow-inspiration-for-daily-living Try it, you'll like it! A Prayer for an End to Hunger Prayer is not asking. Prayer is putting oneself in the hands of God, at His disposition, and listening to His voice in the depths of our hearts. Mother Teresa HEAVENLY FATHER, I pray for the one in five children in our country who lives in a family that struggles to get enough to eat. Grant patience and wisdom to parents who work so hard to see that their children have the food they need to grow and learn. Amen Join your prayer with others who are praying for an end to hunger, Bread for the World, a collective Christian voice urging our nation s decision makers to end hunger at home and abroad. Thank You from Red Bird Mission Thank you to all who have and are bringing in Campbell product labels and Box Tops. Wendy Waters reports we have received a thank you for the 280 Campbell labels and 151 Box Tops sent to support Red Bird Mission in Kentucky. The can is on the Collection Counter, keep em comin! 2017 CUMC Corn Feed We fed about 50 members and friends of the Chino United Methodist Church. This was a little lighter than in years past but we did have a good time of fellowship as well as a good old Methodist Potluck! The menu included: Chino corn, Hot Dogs with all the trimmings, Larry s famous Pork and Beans and his wonderful Peach Cobbler as well as a great array of side dishes and desserts to share. Special thanks going out to Larry and Carol McFarland - they put so much effort into this event. They are such a blessing! Let's try for a bigger turn out next year. God Bless, Adult and Family Ministries Quakes Baseball Game A Huge Success WOW! WOW! WOW! We had 44 persons in attendance at the July 3rd Quakes game against the Lancaster Jethawks. We were able to sit on the 1st base side so we were able to watch the game from pretty good seats. Unfortunately, we lost the game, but it was an incredibly long game at over 4 hours. After the game, we watch a very spectacular FIREWORKS display full of many OOOOOOOOOHs and AWWWWWWWWWWWWs! We are looking forward to another game next year. How about you? Love and Blessing, Adult and Family Ministries Choir Members Needed Are you a choir singer without a choir? Join our church choir. We are a wonderful group and looking for new members. We are especially in need of a bass/baritone and an alto. Maybe you have a friend, neighbor, or relative who would be happy to be a part of our choir and our church. The choir sings September through June and rehearses Wednesday evenings from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday mornings at 9:45 a.m. Carole Schuricht, Director Page 4 THE TI DI NGS
