Also, kindly refrain from audible conversation to respect those wishing to pray and listen to the organ prelude. Thank you. ORGAN - Prelude in A J.S. Bach (1685-1750) THE ENTRANCE RITE AT THE PROCESSION: HYMN 287 Sine Nomine COLLECT FOR PURITY Prayer Book, page 323 GLORIA IN EXCELSIS from Mass in A Minor Harold Darke (1888-1976) THE COLLECT OF THE DAY O Almighty God, who hast knit together thine elect in one communion and fellowship in the mystical body of thy Son Christ our Lord: Grant us grace so to follow thy blessed saints in all virtuous and godly living, that we may come to those ineffable joys which thou hast prepared for those who unfeignedly love thee; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord, who with thee and the Holy Spirit liveth and reigneth, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.

THE LITURGY OF THE WORD THE FIRST LESSON - A Reading from Isaiah On this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wines, of rich food filled with marrow, of well-aged wines strained clear. And he will destroy on this mountain the shroud that is cast over all peoples, the sheet that is spread over all nations; he will swallow up death forever. Then the Lord God will wipe away the tears from all faces, and the disgrace of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the Lord has spoken. It will be said on that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, so that he might save us. This is the Lord for whom we have waited; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation. (25:6-9) Lector The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. GRADUAL - Domini est terra 1 The earth is the Lord's and all that is in it, * the world and all who dwell therein. 2 For it is he who founded it upon the seas * and made it firm upon the rivers of the deep. 3 "Who can ascend the hill of the Lord? " * and who can stand in his holy place?" 4 "Those who have clean hands and a pure heart, * who have not pledged themselves to falsehood, nor sworn by what is a fraud. 5 They shall receive a blessing from the Lord * and a just reward from the God of their salvation." 6 Such is the generation of those who seek him, * of those who seek your face, O God of Jacob. 7 Lift up your heads, O gates; lift them high, O everlasting doors; * and the King of glory shall come in. 8 "Who is this King of glory?" * "The Lord, strong and mighty, the Lord, mighty in battle." 9 Lift up your heads, O gates; lift them high, O everlasting doors; * and the King of glory shall come in. 10 "Who is he, this King of glory?" * "The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory." Words: Psalm 24 Music: Farrell Goehring (b. 1957) THE SECOND LESSON - A Reading from Revelation to John I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "See, the home of God is among mortals. He will dwell with them as their God; they will be his peoples, and God himself will be with them; he will wipe every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; mourning and crying and pain will be no more, for the first things have passed away." And the one who was seated on the throne said, "See, I 2

am making all things new." Also he said, "Write this, for these words are trustworthy and true." Then he said to me, "It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end." (21:1-6a) Lector The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. SEQUENCE: 286 Zeuch mich The people turn to face the Book of Gospels. THE HOLY GOSPEL of our Lord Jesus Christ according to John Glory be to thee, O Lord. When Mary came where Jesus was and saw him, she knelt at his feet and said to him, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died." When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her also weeping, he was greatly disturbed in spirit and deeply moved. He said, "Where have you laid him?" They said to him, "Lord, come and see." Jesus began to weep. So the Jews said, "See how he loved him!" But some of them said, "Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this man from dying?" Then Jesus, again greatly disturbed, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone was lying against it. Jesus said, "Take away the stone." Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, "Lord, already there is a stench because he has been dead four days." Jesus said to her, "Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?" So they took away the stone. And Jesus looked upward and said, "Father, I thank you for having heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I have said this for the sake of the crowd standing here, so that they may believe that you sent me." When he had said this, he cried with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out!" The dead man came out, his hands and feet bound with strips of cloth, and his face wrapped in a cloth. Jesus said to them, "Unbind him, and let him go." (11:32-44) The Gospel of the Lord. Praise be to thee, O Christ. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. 4

He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. Celebrant Do you believe in God the Holy Spirit? I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. PRAYERS FOR THE CANDIDATES Celebrant Let us now pray for these persons who are to receive the Sacrament of new birth. Deliver them, O Lord, from the way of sin and death. Open their heart s to your grace and truth. Fill them with your holy and life-giving Spirit. Keep them in the faith and communion of your holy Church. 5

The Celebrant says Teach them to love others in the power of the Spirit. Send them into the world in witness to your love. Bring them to the fullness of your peace and glory. Grant, O Lord, that all who are baptized into the death of Jesus Christ your Son may live in the power of his resurrection and look for him to come again in glory; who lives and reigns now and forever. Amen. AT THE PROCESSION: HYMN 293 (Verse 2) Grand Isle THANKSGIVING OVER THE WATER Celebrant Celebrant The Lord be with you. And with thy spirit Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is meet and right so to do. We thank you, Almighty God, for the gift of water. Over it the Holy Spirit moved in the beginning of creation. Through it you led the children of Israel out of their bondage in Egypt into the land of promise. In it your Son Jesus received the baptism of John and was anointed by the Holy Spirit as the Messiah, the Christ, to lead us, through his death and resurrection, from the bondage of sin into everlasting life. We thank you, Father, for the water of Baptism. In it we are buried with Christ in his death. By it we share in his resurrection. Through it we are reborn by the Holy Spirit. Therefore in joyful obedience to your Son, we bring into his fellowship those who come to him in faith, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Now sanctify this water, we pray you, by the power of your Holy Spirit, that those who here are cleansed from sin and born again may continue for ever in the risen life of Jesus Christ our Savior. To him, to you, and to the Holy Spirit, be all honor and glory, now and for ever. Amen. THE BAPTISM The candidate is presented by name to the Celebrant who then pours water upon, the candidate, saying: Zoey Ella Jacob Robert I baptize you in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Then the Celebrant places his right hand on the person's head, marking on the forehead the sign of the cross, using Chrism, and saying 6

Zoey Ella Jacob Robert you are sealed by the Holy Spirit in Baptism and marked as Christ's own for ever. Amen. The Celebrant now presents a baptismal candle, lighted from the Paschal Candle, saying Receive the Light of Christ, then when the Bridegroom comes, you may go forth with all the saints to meet him; and see that you keep the grace of your baptism. The Celebrant, Let us pray. Heavenly Father, we thank you that by water and the Holy Spirit you have bestowed upon these your servants the forgiveness of sin, and have raised them to the new life of grace.
