The Edge Edgefield United Methodist Church Newsletter Estel Williams Pastor email address: edgefieldumctn@gmail.com November 2018 ATTENTION! ATTENTION! ATTENTION! This is a special announcement from Edgefield UMC. On Sunday, Nov. 11 th there will be three Worship Services: 8:30 am, 10:30am, & 2pm. The first two you are very familiar with. They will be held in the sanctuary as they are each week. But this coming Sunday we are adding a third service. It will be held in the Christian Life Center. What are you talking about preacher? I am talking about the Rise Against Hunger Event that our youth are sponsoring. Yes, we will worship at 8:30 & 10:30 in the traditional way, but at 2pm we will worship in a different way. In the first two services there will be music, prayer, preaching & fellowship. The third service will have all of the above, minus the preaching. We will worship God by packing meals for the hungry. Around 11,000 to be exact. So come Sunday morning to which of the first two services you choose to attend, but return at 2pm to put our Worship into action. We will worship God with our service as we all work together to make this event a huge success. For I was hungry and you gave me food {Matthew 25:35) There is no better way to give thanks & praise God than to help those in need. SEE YOU THERE MAY EACH OF YOU HAVE A BLESSED NOVEMBER. PASTOR ESTEL

I Am an American Soldier Society still viewed me as a child. I made a real adult decision to be your protector. My family proudly gave up having me around daily. I carry tattered pictures of them in my helmet. I missed my child's first steps and words. I cradled a child who lost all hope and family. I crossed the seas to lands I have only read about in history class. I encountered cultures I don't understand. I have endured extreme heat and bone chilling cold. I have seen things of which nightmares are made. I have witnessed the worst abuse of human against human. I have seen tears of gratitude from people beaten down by their own government. I have been rejected by the very people I have sworn to protect. I have watched my friends die before my eyes. I have seen things of which I can never tell. I did what I could to protect the freedom you love. My uniform was put away many years ago. I kneel before God but never the flag. I have been asked, "Would you do it again." My answer is simple.
