EDITORIAL Elsa Rossi, BUSS 2016 is already showing itself to be a year of wondrous light descending upon those of good will. We started the year with an important meeting, attended by 16 Spiritist groups from around the UK. The main purpose was to give an opportunity for all Directors to meet each other, know each other and plan future events together, approving what we will embrace as a group. A decision was made for us to have more workshops for the preparation of Spiritist workers, as those who spread the light are the first to be enlightened. Among the key events in the first months of 2016 was the Gathering of Spiritist Tutors for the Children and Youth, organised by the European Education Commission and BUSS, which took place in March. www.buss.org.uk www.facebook.com/uk.buss buss.office@gmail.com Newsletter 53 January - March 2016 In April, apart from the Spiritist Bookfair, which has been held for many years, BUSS will take part in the International Spiritist Council (ISC) Coordination for Europe meeting, which will be held in Basel, Switzerland, from 1st to 3rd April. The main event of the year will take place in May. Divaldo Franco, Ambassador of Peace, will present two talks at Perrin Theatre, Queen Mary University of London, on 8th and 9th May. Please see the article on page 2 for more information. The 2nd Gathering of the Spiritist Family will take place in September with the participation of renowned Spiritist author and lecturer, Professor Cosme Massi, creator of IPEAK (Instituto de Pesquisas Espíritas Allan Kardec). A seminar regarding Mediumship is also planned for September. With all these events, we can only say that the Spiritist movement in the United Kingdom is developing with great fraternity and growth, which does not need to be rushed, but may it be always in an atmosphere of peace. 14th BUSS Bookfair From 19th to 22nd April, BUSS will be hosting the 14th Fundraising Bookfair. This is a great opportunity to buy both new and second-hand books of various subjects and topics, while at the same time helping BUSS with important causes. The event will take place at the BUSS office in Bethnel Green. For more information, please e-mail buss.bookshop@gmail.com. New address for BUSS As many people may be aware, BUSS has needed to relocate. Luckily the distance moved is not very far, and the new location is in the same building, albeit now on the 3rd floor. The new address for BUSS is: Room 1, 3rd Floor, Oxford House, Derbyshire Street, Bethnel Green, London, E2 6HG. Page 1

News and upcoming events An invitation from Richmond A new group in Birmingham We would like to invite you all to join us as we celebrate our first year of public meetings. The Richmond Spiritist Fellowship was set up in October 2009 and has since held meetings on every second and last Wednesday of the month. The George Vale Owen Spiritist Study Group started its activities on 26th January 2016 at the Saint Francis Hall, University of Birmingham. The meetings are held in English and follow the book Spiritism in its Simplest Expression, an important work of Allan Kardec. This introductory view will facilitate anyone s first contact with the Spiritist Teachings. Since March 2015 we have been holding meetings at the Quakers Friends Meeting House in Richmond. Our study is based on: The Mediums' Book, The Spirits' Book, and The Gospel According to Spiritism. Dreams that come true Elsa Rossi, BUSS The first step is to believe in yourself. The next steps are fruits of the plan. The dream has already left the clouds and now it projects itself into the continuous thoughts that take shape. The shapes almost become real. And one day the dream comes true. It is with great joy that we see in many countries an established headquarters for the local Spiritist movement, no matter if it is rented monthly, or through the purchase of a property. This possibility has appeared in the United Kingdom. Sir William Crookes Spiritist Society (SWCSS) has been a pioneer in registering with the British government to be recognised as a Non-Governmental Organisation that constantly provides a contribution to the community. This was followed by the registration of BUSS and other groups that have also taken on this objective. Currently there are five Spiritist institutions in the UK recognised by the British government as having a charitable status. SWCSS is still the pioneer in that they have been able to purchase a building for their activities. Through the efforts of many members of the group, and through the resources obtained from their charity shop, selling second-hand objects donated by the community for a very reasonable price, they have been able to maintain their centre. It is very touching to see the effort of purchasing a property that is over one hundred years old, in precarious conditions, being restructured with beams and a roof, and its transformation is the fruit of the effort of the Directors of SWCSS and the volunteers who believed that the dream could come true. After eight months of intense labour the shop is open to the public and, within eight more months, the classrooms for Children and Youth Spiritist Education and the room for studies and lectures will also be open to the general public. The maintenance and monthly payment of the mortgage will not be easy, but will not be impossible. When everybody joins together and vibrates for a NOBLE CAUSE and OBJECTIVES, everything is possible, with the help of the Benefactors who take care of each area of our lives. BUSS intends to follow SWCSS's example and is planning to launch soon the project for the purchase of our own property. Some think we are dreamers, but, as I explained, plans are born from dreams, and we can dream together, plan together, materialise together and leave a inheritance of light for humankind. Who knows if we will be the ones who, working for these objectives, will one day disincarnate and reincarnate to work in the same field, in the same city, at the same institution that we helped to be a reality Here is the invitation to our dear friends, both in the UK and overseas, who want to make a positive difference to the British Spiritist movement, an invitation to write us. We will be more than happy to give information and explain details. We hope there will be plenty of people who can help this great cause which will be of benefit to us all. 2016, a new year that starts. The cycle of evolution that never ends. The sun that never stops, which supplies the Earth with energy. The sun of LOVE that supplies our souls with energies is JESUS. And we trust him, and believe that the plans of goodness will enjoy great spiritual assistance. Let's dream of a proper place, a small room, a humble corner of light for our Spiritist activities, wherever we settle... This will be the best possible application that we could make of our material assets. It will be there forever, welcoming the hearts of good will that would join and work here and overseas.
