Update from Reverend Kevin Kay There's a nip in the air, the winds are picking up, the geese and birds are flocking up, it must be autumn. September came and went so fast. The routines of the winter are beginning. I hope that you are settling in for the winter. We give praise for the wonderful times we have spent together. The joint missions service was a tremendous success as we heard Rev. Debbie Hogeboom share about her work in Kenya. It was wonderful to share the service with Glorious Hope. Thank you to all who made this time so special. Bible studies are beginning. I hope you will find a place to fellowship and dig into God's word. There are groups that meet all over the city. Beverly sends her greetings. She is helping at the church in Picton. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving season. The times spent with family and friends needs to be cherished. There are many who have much less than you. Express your thanks to God as he has blessed you. Finance - New Church Sign As you are aware, we are raising money for a new church sign which will cost approximately $3,000.00. To date we have raised $1060.00. Please consider donating to a new church sign.

Journeying Through The Year 2000 This is an article I wrote about the worst year of my life - to show that when life is impossible, God will give us what we need to get thru. By Kathy Harris We never know The turns our life may take So we need to daily pray In order to cope with the trials That comes our way. In April, my father passed away After only a two week hospital stay! How difficult it was To sit at this bedside each day, To see him unresponsive, Lying so inactive, so still. When the situation offered no hope His death was a blessing With which we could better cope. Then in May, a trial came my way. I had to go for 3 tests in one day; Breast Cancer was the final diagnosis. What a shock to my system that day! How grateful I was that I was not alone, (My husband was working out of town), That my pastor and his wife accompanied me. In June the surgery was to be A right mastectomy How grateful I was for the company Of my best friend, Sheryl, For the many prayers that day. No real fear came my way and peace filled my heart that day. In July to St. Boniface Hospital I did trek Chemotherapy treatments did beckon. Six months was the plan, Easily through I ran, No upset stomach or nausea, I only felt as tired as I could be. Some other events came to be: My brother Bill had Hernia surgery, My husband Bob shared his fate In that he had a cyst removed at a later date. On August 30 th was my birthday, Sister-in-law Darlene was sick that day. Instead of being a flu Three days later to the hospital they did pursue. A bleeding in the brain The CT scan did show, To another hospital they did go. One day later she nearly passed away; Many prayers everyone did say. A miracle God did make; He kept her alive for our family s sake, But a long hospital stay her recovery would take. On November 7 th my mother Suddenly did die, Oh how that made us cry! It brought together one another A funeral to plan. Numb and in shock, Our feelings were like an ice block Until our tears it would melt. Then on December 14 th, we had MORE bad news: In Children s Hospital my youngest niece, Sarah, had been, Her diagnosis: Leukemia it would seem! Two years of treatments she would need, Chemotherapy and Prednisone were started for now, To go home for Christmas might be a fulfilled wish. A difficult year it came to be But new lessons we learned you see. To become a woman of prayer, Like my Mother I d like to be. Life here on earth is so short; We need to make each minute count. Through our feelings we must sort, To say I Love You would be of great account. God is our comfort and strength, A safety in time of trouble, To help us tramp through the stubble. Inner joy and peace will spring forth like a bubble. A witness for Jesus we can be, A light for others to see.
