JS prpsed: regular members at $20, student members at $10, rganizatin/crprate members at $80 fr 5 memberships, family members (2 adults and children under 18 years f age) at $40, lifetime members at a ne-time $500, and a crprate spnsrship memberships at $200.

Discussin fllwed n the crprate spnsrship and/r crprate membership including: Varius prices, placing lgs n the sciety website, the number f memberships assciated with a crprate member, and hw members wuld be identified fr inclusin in the membership list. Prpsed adding family membership and crprate spnsrship/membership these changes may require a bylaw change. As such, a prpsal will be drafted by JS and presented at the annual meeting. Membership categries/prices will be revisited electrnically, ideally with a vte at the annual meeting. Cmmunicatin & Educatin- CG/FM/MW/ME Reprted n belw under student schlarship. Prgram Cmmittee NH/ME/MT/JS ME presented ptins n the annual meeting catering, which will be mre expensive than past meetings. Three prpsals were described that ranged frm apprximately $23-$29 per plate withut supprt staff, tableclths, additinal tables etc. Csts t attend the meeting were discussed and the fllwing pricing was mved, secnded, and apprved: Regular members $50, Students $35, Nnmembers $70 Members shuld be reminded that they culd als prvide dnatins t the student schlarship fund. Meeting Registratin MT reprted n discussins with ur web master (Lindsey) and CG n implementing a new web-app system t manage registratin fr events (e.g. Eventbrite) Pricing structures were summarized by MT (typically $1/ticket plus the cst f a credit card) Discussed items included: Csts, crdinatin with membership lists, alternative applicatins NH described his experiences with Wild Aprict which is nw used by EPOC. NH will discuss that app with the persn in his rganizatin that has been invlved with implementatin There was general agreement with the need t migrate t a system that manages membership and even registratin in a way that supprts ur recrd keeping, and prvides ease f use bth fr members and fr the sciety. Discussin was tabled until after the annual meeting, althugh there seemed t be agreement t try t implement a new system with the spring field trip meeting. CG will cmmunicate with Lindsey t establish a means by which members can check the status f their membership n ur existing web platfrm. He will als cmmunicate t Lindsey that the annual meeting will use ur website fr registratin, with a migratin cming smetime thereafter Electins - JS/RL JS/RL reprted n electin business

Initially it was thught that three bard psitins were up fr electin (RL, ME, DV). Fllwing discussin, due t his status as past president, it was realized RL s term cntinues. With ME retirement frm the bard at the end f this year, that leaves tw vacancies. DV is interested in standing fr re-electin t the bard. JS/RL reprted n cnversatins with fur ptential candidates t stand fr electin t the bard. Tw expressed interest including: Shawn Pff, a licensed prfessinal gelgist with Terracn, and Michael Knell, a palentlgist and assistant prfessr at SCSU DH and MT will determine hw best t handle electin ntificatin t the membership fllwing guidelines frm ur bylaws and past practice. There will be 3 candidates (DV fr re-electin, and Pff and Knell fr electin t fill 2 vacancies Academic Advisry Cmmittee- DV/RL N reprt GSC Distinguished Lecturer Prpsal- DV/PR N reprt Student Research Fund-ME/MT/DH MT/ME/DH reprted n a revised schlarship annuncement. revised text will be circulated electrnically New applicatins pen in March. ME will cmmunicate with student award recipients fr the current year encuraging them t attend the annual meeting. Award recipients will be cntacted and requested t prvide a single visually attractive PwerPint slide that identifies their study and their name. This slide will be cycled n the screen and the awardees will stand be recgnized at the annual meeting. Other tpics guidebks, student vlunteers, field trip pssibilities MT indicated that as f the present we d nt have a spring field trip lcked dwn, but that in keeping with past practice if pssible it shuld fcus n minerals (the theme f the annual meeting). RL raised the pssibility f anther terrir field trip fcusing n western Cnnecticut. He will investigate further, althugh such a trip wuld likely be later than the spring f 2018.
