For July 2018 Report of the meeting held on Saturday 16 June 2018. The Brethren arrived early, and after some refreshments they moved to the Lodge room, which was prepared for the old ritual the Spring Equinox by Jan van Ruysbroeck from Belgium. It is in the first degree according to the French Rite, as is worked in the Regular Grand Lodge of Belgium. At 1.15 pm our acting Presiding Master Bro. Clive Pattie welcomed the Brethren and the ceremony started. One of the highlights is the placing of the Cornerstone in the North East site of the Temple, using the cord with 13 knots to form an angle of 90 degrees, (in the Dutch ritual we have 9 knots to create a square angle). We can compare this with the three rods in the Operatives order who form a 90 degree angle with their 3-4-5 rods to layout the foundation of the building as we saw in last Month s meeting. The Master used Bread, Wine and Oil, a custom which we still find in some other Orders. The Brethren partake in taking bread and wine. Layout of the Lodge room, and the cord with 13 knots. Afterwards, a discussion and explanation was given about the ritual. Apologies were received and recorded from Brethren who were unable to attend for various reasons. Brethren, there is a big difference between the English Freemasonry and that on the Continent; here the tools are used by the candidate or the Master. Also by using lit candles in the room this gives more meaning to the symbol of light in our Rituals.
The cost is only $35.00 per person attending for which there will be sherries, nibbles, wine and soft drinks as well as a fully-catered roast of the day, Followed by desert. Please note that bookings are essential before 8 July Brethren, let us make this a big celebration, and be part of this. The ladies are welcome in this ritual, and when you have Masonic friends who like to know what the Kring is about, bring them to this meeting. Hope to see you all. The Tracing board what was used in the ceremony. Masonic Humour At 3 pm our Brother Meal was ready for which we would like to thank Dawn and Francis for a nice meal, and for furnishing the tables. August meeting: There will be NO meeting in August, as I will be in Queensland at my daughter s. September meeting: As the Duke of Abercorn Lodge in Bacchus Marsh has the Grand Lodge team for installation of their New Master, which is on the same day as we are having our meeting, the Brethren decided that we will have our meeting in September on the 5 th Saturday, the 29 th of September. An interesting idea, Bro Secretary, but Freemasonry does not need to keep score. This month we are having our 25 th year celebration. How to spot a Mason (it s tricky). There will be a special Sylvester Ritual to celebrate our 25 years, and afterwards we are having a traditional Table Lodge.
GODDESS SYMBOLISM WITHIN FREEMASONRY Part 1 We see two seekers searching for the Sun God or Goddess, represented by the letter G. One path is full of symbolism and complex ideas, while the other path is clear and leads straight to the Sun God (Goddess). But what you see on the crossing of the two paths is the Squarer and Compass symbol. Now this symbol stand for many different meanings, as you will see later. We see also that the seeker who takes the difficult path wears an apron (a Freemason), is this telling us that to understand and reach the letter G, we have to look for a simple way? Brethren, after reading the book Goddess Symbolism within Freemasonry by William Bond, I was so fascinated, that I found it necessary to make a part of it in a lecture, this is what I have given on the July 2012 meeting in Kyneton, and some brethren afterwards has ask me of I can set this in the newsletter of the Kring, what I hereby will do. The main focus of this lecture was to show how Freemasonry uses the symbolism of a very ancient Goddess religion that goes back to the Neolithic age. The interest to this ancient religion of the Great Mother, we can find this back in the Tao-Te- Ching, and the Hindu and Buddhism sect of Tantra, and in some form in Christianity. (Worshiping of Maria and female saints) So its roots may be very ancient. Though whether Freemasonry is a Goddess religion in reality, or they have inherited ancient symbols they no longer understand, I don't know. The truth is probably a mixture of both, as I will explain later. Take this Mason symbolic drawing called, See Light. Here we see the famous well know drawing which is called Faith, Hope and Charity. As in other Mason drawings Faith, Hope and Charity are represented by angels or (Goddesses). In this drawing we only see two Goddesses or angels, so where is the third? The secret meaning within this drawing is that the third Goddess is the Compass and Square imagine in the middle of the drawing. So why does this image represent a Goddess? Let us go back to the fundamentalist Pastor Ron Carlson, who has spoken about Freemasonry in churches in many parts of America. He claims that the square represents the earth, the compasses represent the sky, and the square and compasses when united, represent the sky impregnating the earth with its showers. He goes on to state that this is a symbol of sexual intercourse. He is not the only one. When we are looking to the Star of David, we see that this is a composition of two pyramids. The upwards pointing pyramid is an ancient symbol for the power of the King ( Mishpat, Jachin, Male). The other represents the power of the priest, reaching down from Haven to Earth, ( Tsedeq, Boaz, Female). Now when you take the two horizontal lines away, you have our Square & Compasses.
Sometimes between the square and compasses we put the letter G, and call this by the names of, the Great Architect, or Geometry. It has been claimed that James Anderson, introduced this word the Great Architect into Freemasonry in 1723, and that he got this from the works of John Calvin. And that the idea Geometry comes from the physics of Isaac Newton, who showed that the movement of the planets was caused by scientific laws and not by the hands of God. Newton used geometry to calculate the movement of the planets. Another explanation comes from Gerald Gardner who was not only a Freemason but also the originator of modern Witchcraft. In his article about Witchcraft he wrote, the Myth of Witchcraft seems to be the story of the goddess here quoted. I am forbidden to give her name, so I will call her G. This will give us the clue to the meaning of the compass and Square image, a Diamond shape frame. We see this diamond shape also back in the Masonic symbol of the Trowel. Archaeologists have discovered many V and Triangle shaped symbols and it seems they represent the Triangle of a woman s pubic hairs, while the diamond shape is similar to an open woman s vagina. In the next picture we see the image called Sheela-Na-Gig, and believed it or not, it is found in ancient Christian Churches in Britain and Ireland. It is claimed by Christian Priests to frighten away demons, but by the ancients this was once a holy and sacred image. Many of these images are found on Churches dedicated to St Bridget, who was once the pagan Goddess Brigit. Sheela-Na-Gig As we has seen before the Square & Compasses and the David Star are in a Hexagram form or shape. Now the Star of David in Judaism was in pre- Christian times used by Pagan religion. It was only adopted as the emblem of the Zionist movement in 1897. The Hexagram consists of 6 sides, 6 points and 6 small triangles, thus 666. 666 stood for the Triple Goddesses as 6 was a sacred number, and today is still a holy number in Hinduism, Buddhism and by Muslims. In Chinees it is a lucky number, in Christianity it is an evil number. It is also used to represent the Triple Babylonian Goddess Ishtar. The people of Babylon worshiped gods that were associated with the sun, moon, and visible planets of our solar system, and the number 666 come directly from the worship practices of the city of Babylon. Now here we find again things what we see back in our Temples and Freemasonry. The Stars, Sun & Moon representing the solar system, on our Tracing Boards and our Pillars. When the Christian Church built the first stone Churches the workforce still followed pagan beliefs, and incorporate many of the pagan gods and goddesses as well as coded messages of pre- Christian teachings within the decoration of the churches.
