January 2018 STAFF We praise God for the continued flourishing and growth of our Ministry, with dedicated staff members and volunteers working together towards our Vision. The total staff in Namibia is as follows: Total Staff CO 6 Keetmanshoop 10 Rehoboth 8 The Ark Okahandja 7 Petra Okahandja 8 Oshikuku 15 54 We had to say farewell to one of our cooks who retired at 60 years of age. We also welcomed new staff members to CHI. We thank God for the male CareGivers who have joined us, which was a challenge met. Many of our children need a father figure in their lives. One of the CareGivers from Keetmanshoop has been transferred to Okahandja. OSHIKUKU MC STAFF KEETMANSHOOP MC STAFF REHOBOTH MC STAFF

Page 2 of 11 ORIENTATION TRAINING Orientation Training took place from 15 th 19 th of January 2018 for old and new staff members to ensure that we start the new year knowing what is expected of each one. There were 18 trainees in total including the 2 volunteers from the Netherlands and the lady who does Administration. The trainers were Ndemufayo, Pelgrina and Nathessa. The Program covered the following: MCP Orientation (CHI Statement of Faith; Core Values; What is a Ministry CarePoint; Definition of Orphans and Vulnerable Children; Ministry Centre Reports Flowchart) MCP Program Documentation & Reporting Policy and Procedure Recruitment & Discharge Procedure Child Sponsorship Genesis Design Creative Bible Lessons CHILDREN MINISTRY CAREPOINTS TOTAL # CHILDREN KEETMANSHOOP 83 The Ark Keetmanshoop MCP 44 Christiaan & Rita MCP 39 REHOBOTH 54 The Ark Rehoboth MCP 40 Georgie Wilson MCP 14 OKAHANDJA 87 The Ark Okahandja MCP 39 Petra MCP 48 OSHIKUKU 69 The Ark Oshikuku MCP 40 Mupewa MCP 29 293 As it is the start of the of the new year most of our children are having after school athletic practice which is the reason for the absentees. Some of them come to the CarePoints to have lunch before they go to school to practice. The CareGivers are encouraged to go and support the children on the athletic competition days. We praise God for the good health of our children. Registrations for new children will continue in February 2018.

Page 3 of 11 DISCHARGE CHALLENGE In the beginning of the year is always the biggest challenge since we hear about children who have moved. We do communicate when discharge procedure starts. STATIONARY DISTRIBUTION OSHIKUKU MINISTRY CENTRE PETRA MCP

Last month we received 30kg Pasta remix, 50kg Maize meal and 50kg Rice worth of N$940. We pray that God will send people to donate meat and vegetable to the MC as we trust God for rain all over Namibia. We are also thankful towards Mr Ludie for the potatoes he continually gives to us as well as Marathon Sugar for the sugar. VOLUNTEERS Mr & Mrs Sikkema are from Netherlands. They are very friendly people, who have been a great help to us. Mr Sikkema has put the shelves together which was donated by StoreTech Namibia. Okahandja and Oshikuku now have shelves in each CareRoom. He is busy levelling the ground at the Rock Centre and also been doing the maintenance at the Centres. Mrs Sikkema has been helping us in the office with administration work and also sat in with the CareGivers of Oshikuku

Page 10 of 11 OKAHANDJA THE ROCK MINISTRY CENTRE Nearly ten years ago this earth moving machine was donated to the Namibian ministry by the Ditch Office. Ties Sikkema was the person who drove the machine into the container in which it was transported to Namibia. Now he is working on the machine in Namibia. What a blessing this machine has been to the ministry. A LATE UPDATE FROM KEETMANS of school stationary given to parents and guardians for the children s 2018 school year. They were asked to ensure that the children take care of the stationary and supplies and not wasted. We ll see if this will help to ensure better usage of the materials entrusted to them. MEALS ARE NOW SERVED IN THE CAREROOMS TO CREATE MORE OF A HOME ATMOSPHERE

Page 11 of 11 NOTE OF THANKS We want to extend gratitude the Twinning Partners for your commitment to see that all our children are sponsored. Your support is not something we take lightly and is very much appreciated by Christ s Hope International Namibia. Compiled by Nathessa Engelbrecht Namibian CO OVC Department Team Leader
