THE TRINITY By Jacquelyn F. Fedor An Excerpt from the Book False Doctrines Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is ONE LORD Deuteronomy 6:4 THE DOCTRINE DEFINED: The Trinity refers to the Christian understanding of God as a unity of three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The doctrine of the Trinity is a post scriptural attempt to bring to human understanding the diverse affirmations about God, all of which seemed necessary for a full statement of Christian experience and belief. For most Christians today, the one God appears in what they call a threefold economy. Difficulties with this belief emerged when formulating an understanding of this threefold economy. Various views led to numerous Trinitarian controversies such as those over subordinationism, the teaching that the Son is subordinate to the Father and the Holy Spirit to both, and modalism, the view that the three modes are transitory. The Councils of Nicaea and 1

Constantinople outlined the dogma of the Trinity in express rejection of these two teachings. But the Scripture will show us all these teachings including the Trinity are in error. WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS: The first thing we should understand is that God is a Spirit. John 4:24 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. And secondly, the scriptures very plainly tell us, Hear, Oh Israel, the Lord your God is ONE God. Deut 6:4 Isa 43:11 11 I, even I, am the LORD, and besides Me there is no savior. Mark 12:29 2

29 Jesus answered him, "The first of all the commandments is: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Mark 12:32 32 So the scribe said to Him, "Well said, Teacher. You have spoken the truth, for there is one God, and there is no other but He. 1 Cor 8:4 4 Therefore concerning the eating of things offered to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one. Gal 3:20 20 Now a mediator does not mediate for one only, but God is one. 1 Tim 2:5 5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, 3

James 2:19 19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe and tremble! God is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). The same God that speaks to us in the Old Testament is the same God that speaks to us in the New Testament. To truly understand the Godhead is impossible. He created us, we did not create Him! His ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts. In the Old Testament Book of Isaiah God speaks very clearly concerning His thoughts in comparison with man s. Isa 55:8 9 8 For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways, says the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts. Looking also in the New Testament, the Apostle Paul asks: 4

Rom 11:34 34 For who has known the mind of the Lord? Having different thoughts and different ways from the Lord s, how can we even begin to comprehend YAHWEH Himself? Most people try by humanizing Him. How ridiculous, attributing to a righteous God the characteristics of sinful man. Even though God manifested as a man through Jesus, He was without sin and was in fact the fullness of the Godhead bodily. Col 2:9 9 For in him (Christ Jesus) dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. I John 3:5 5 And you know that He (God) was manifested (Jesus the Son) to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. Heb 4:15 15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our 5

weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Jesus was God in a body suit and the following scriptures go on to prove this. John 1:1,3,14 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. Matt 1:23 23 Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel, which is translated, God with us. First Timothy 3:16 probably explains it best. 6

1 Tim 3:16 16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Preached among the Gentiles, Believed on in the world, Received up in glory. God came to earth in the bodysuit of Jesus and He called that fleshly body His Son. That bodysuit was His Son in that He formed it in Mary to be born a normal human body, but He dwelled in that body as the complete Godhead. This was for the purpose of setting an example of how we must walk since we no longer had an example. All born after Adam would walk in sin like him. Not only would God through Jesus set the example for our walk, He would die to pay the death penalty for our sin. He would then give us the opportunity to choose between Adam and Himself (the last Adam) as to who would be our father. 1 Cor 15:45 45 And so it is written, "The first man Adam became a living being." The last Adam became a life giving spirit. 7

If we chose the last Adam, we would have to be born again. We are born again through baptism. He too was born of an Adamic mother. He set the example of how to be born over again by being baptized Himself (See the chapter on baptism). But the point I am making is: it was one God doing these things through the bodysuit called Jesus, reconciling the world back to Himself. He (God) took our sin on Himself through Jesus and died for us! 2 Cor 5:19 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Interestingly enough, those who do not confess that God was made manifest in the fleshly body of Jesus, their spirit, Apostle John tells us, is not of God, but of Antichrist. We see this in 1 John 4: 2 3. I John 4:2 3 2 By this you know the Spirit of God:, Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God 8

3 and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. John 2:19 19 Jesus answered and said to them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. John 2:21 21 But He was speaking of the temple of His body. Notice also, He said He would raise His own body. In John 2:21 Jesus referred to His body as the temple. Scripture also tells us that we too are referred to as God s temple. 1 Cor 3:16 16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 9

Not only are we called His temple but in another place we are called the Body of Christ. 1 Cor 12:27 27 Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. When we are born again, God comes to dwell in us as He did in Jesus. So in us as believers, also dwells the fullness of the Godhead. Not as individuals (until we are glorified), but as the corporate Body of Christ. Col 2:9 10 9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; 10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power. Rom 12:4 5 4 For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, 10

5 so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. It is Christ in us, the hope of glory. Col 1:27 27 To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. 1 Cor 6:17 17 But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. Eph 4:4 6 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. 11

We have shown you through the scriptures the fullness of the Godhead pertaining to Jesus, who was the flesh suit of God, and also the Holy Spirit through God s people in many bodysuits as One Body). The latter is not to say that we are God. His Holy Spirit dwells in us. We are just vessels that carry this treasure inside. When we too are born again as a child of God, His Spirit comes into us also to give us life much as He breathed His life into Adam so he could live. One God in us! PERSONS vs. MANIFESTATIONS (Trinity) The Trinity presents a problem when it reads that there are three persons in one God. It would do better to say three manifestations of One God or the same God. He manifested as: 1.The FATHER in creation 2.The SON in redemption 12

3.The HOLY SPIRIT in His people We may not understand it, nevertheless it is Truth. The Word of God never refers to God as triune. To say that One God has three persons would be to say that God has Multiple Personality Disorder, which simply put means two or more personalities in one individual. This disorder is socially unacceptable in the human race, how then can we justify it in the ONE true and perfect God? THE GREATER GOD (Subordinationism) Subordinationism (also called Arianism) is one of the two views of God that provoked the outline of the Trinity. There are some today who hold to this view. It states that the Son is subordinate to the Father and that the Holy Spirit is subordinate to them both. This view is based not only on Jesus having to be born on earth, but also on certain scriptures where Jesus is seen praying to the Father or speaking of the 13

Father as if He were another person and greater than Himself. The truth of the matter as I stated before is, that God had to manifest through Jesus, as the Son for the redemption of His people and at the same time set an example of how we are to walk as believers. Through His prayer He was teaching us submission to God's Authority. It shows us that we can do nothing apart from the Father. He and the Father are in perfect unity. Why? Because they are ONE. John 10:30 30 I and My Father are one. The separating of God begins in part when people feel more compassionate towards a certain side of God. It is common for individuals to be drawn to the Holy Spirit; for example, because He is the comforter, rather than to the Father who is a disciplinarian. As people separate Jesus (the word or the message of God or the Truth) from the Father or from the Holy Spirit, they take away from having the fullness of God and they lack direction as well as portions of His anointing. They may 14

understand the love of God (the Holy Spirit), but not receive the chastisement of God (the Father) or see the importance of believing and walking in total Truth (the Word, the Son). I John 5:7 7 For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. John 14:7 10 7 "If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him." 8 Philip said to Him, "Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us." 9 Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, 'Show us the Father'? Each of the three manifestations of God has an anointing and without all three present, the Body of Christ cannot be the full stature of Christ to defeat 15

our enemies. As an example: there are those who refrain from receiving and accepting the baptism of the Holy Spirit as they mature. In doing this they miss being fashioned and shaped into His image. Through the nine gifts of the Spirit we acquire the ability and power of God and through the fruit of the Spirit of Truth we acquire His nature. As a result of this refusal they remain babies, more in the image of Adam than Christ, and operate in intellect displaying the works of the flesh found at Galatians 5:19 21. Gal 5:19 21 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. If the Body today walked in the fullness of Christ, then His authority and power would be present and our enemies would be under our feet. It is the 16

plan and intent of the enemy to keep this from happening and therefore Satan divides and conquers. He divides God into three different people in our minds and causes us to be divided through his false doctrine and lies. Sadly many believe the lies and are mislead. In other words, Satan operates through unrighteous, gullible man to manifest his power so as to keep the House of God divided and powerless. GOD, A TRANSITORY MODE (Modalism) Modalism is a view that was taught in order to affirm the unity of God and guard against polytheism (the worship of many gods). However, this belief teaches God s manifestations are transitory or temporary. We know that God is the Father of creation. This manifestation is not temporary as we can see in Isaiah and in the Book of Philippians. Isa 9:6 6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty 17

God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Phil 4:20 20 Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen. We also know that God is Jesus, the Son in redemption. This manifestation is not temporary. Heb 9:11 12 11 But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. 12 Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. Rev 1:8 8 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, says the Lord, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty. 18

Heb 13:8 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever. The Holy Spirit is manifested through His people. Neither is this a temporary manifestation. I John 4:13 13 By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. Eph 3:16 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, Rom 8:11 11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. 19

Gal 6:8 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. IN CONCLUSION: JESUS PRAYED THIS WAY: John 17:21 23 21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: 23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me. Jesus made it clear that you cannot separate God as He is one God and if we 20

want victory, then as the body of Christ, we must be one in the Word or have the same Truths and the same message. We must not be a confusing voice to the new people God brings to us to feed. The first thing we must do is weed out all false doctrine and lies that Satan has divided us with. We must be in one accord! 21
