UMW/ Outreach News Update The members of the UMW would like to thank everyone who supported us in our efforts during the holiday season. The Lion s Club Christmas dinner was enjoyed by all, thanks to our great volunteers. The Birthday Party for Jesus was a fun time of fellowship and LifeChoice will appreciate the generous donations. The Mitten Tree is loaded and donations will be taken to the Salvation Army soon. Thank you for your purchases of God s Creation calendars-we still have some available! All of these things further our goal of supporting missions. Our first meeting of 2019 will be on Thursday, January 24 at 6:30 pm in the Fireplace Room. We would love to see some new faces-please join us as we plan for the new year and enjoy fellowship with one another. Our Church Conference on Saturday, December 1st at Frontier UMC was attended by several United Methodist churches in our conference. It was a good time of fellowship. Our District Superintendent, Jeff Rainwater, presided over the meeting and thanks to those from Faith Church that attended this important annual meeting. A new slate of officers was selected for church leadership for 2019. Faith Church has a bounty of people willing to accept the calling of leadership and their hard work is very much appreciated. A listing of the church leadership is available at the church if you want one upon request. We are all the church together! JOIN US ON THIS VERY SPECIAL SUNDAY!! FAITH CHURCH CELEBRATION Sunday, January 13th, 2019 On Sunday, January 13th during the 11 am worship, we will celebrate the past year in the life of Faith Church and recognize our church leaders and committee members. Following the service, we will continue our fellowship with a potluck lunch, so bring your favorite dish to share! As good Methodists, we always do food well! Please plan to be here to join in the celebration!

We have observed that people are taking items that have been put on the shelves and hopefully others will want to add more items when they can. As the box says, Take what you need, leave what you can. Thanks to everyone who helped keep the Davis Hospice Cookie Ministry going in 2018. We would like to continue this ministry in 2019 and could use YOUR help. Be among the first to choose when you d like to bring some cookie joy to the folks at Hospice! Sign-up sheets, details and containers are available in the back of the sanctuary. Thank You!

The All Saints Day Celebration on Sunday, November 18th went very well. It was a day of remembrance for our friends and family who went before us in the year. As part of the worship service, the congregation lifted up their memory by speaking their loved ones names, a bell was rung and a candle was lit symbolizing our hope in Jesus Christ. This was a memorable service of supportive fellowship and honoring our departed loved ones. Our SEASON OF ADVENT was an expectant time of waiting and looking forward to the birth of Jesus on Christmas. Thank you to the readers and those that lit the Advent candles, the greeters and everyone who attended our church services this Christmas season. HANGING OF THE GREENS: Thanks to everyone who helped decorate the church for Christmas. The church service was inspirational with participation from the congregation. A delicious meal of chili and fixings was served for volunteers who stayed to finish decorating the church. WORSHIP & MUSIC MINISTRY TEAM: Thank you to the worship and music ministry team who planned the music, did the bulletins and to Pastor Gracie for her sermons this holiday season. Special thanks to Pastor Gracie for her children s time messages which are enjoyed by all the kids that attend. LONGEST NIGHT SERVICE: Thank you, Virginia Clark for giving the message for our Longest Night service. Thank you to everyone who attended this comforting service. CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE: The service was well attended and we enjoyed all the kids that showed up to be part of the program. Thank you to the choir and Tawn Howe, Virginia Clark and Connie Fournier for the wonderful, inspiring songs for Christmas. Special thank you to Pastor Gracie for her message and to everyone who attended our Christmas service. Bernice Acheson, who turned 99 years old on November 30th received a lot of cards and calls for her birthday. She was thrilled and thanks everyone who helped make this a very special birthday. THANK YOU, FAITH CHURCH!

If You Want to Kill the Church Never go to your church or meetings held there, If you do go, be late, it's no one's affair. If the weather is bad, either too hot or snowing, Just stay home and rest, for there'll be others going. But should you attend, be sure and remember To find fault with the work, each official and member. Be sure to hold back on your offerings and tithes, The bills will be paid by the rest of the guys. And never take office if offered the post, But eagerly criticize work of the host. If not on a committee you're placed, be sore! If you find that you are, don't attend any more. When asked your opinion on this thing or that, Have nothing to say, just turn 'em down flat. Then after the meeting, shine out like the sun By telling the folks how it should have been done. Don't do any more than you possibly can, Leave the work for some other woman or man. And when you see faithful ones work themselves sick, Then stand up and holler, "It's run by a clique! There are four main bones in every organization: The wish-bones: Wishing somebody would do something about the problem. Churchgoer to pastor, "Your sermon reminded me of the mercies of God. I thought it would endure forever." Good deeds are not done by walking into a church. They are done when you walk out of the church and help others. Going to church doesn't make you a Christian anymore than standing in a garage makes you a car. CHURCH HURT If being hurt by church causes you to lose faith in God, then your Faith was in people NOT IN GOD CHURCH IS NOT SOMETHING YOU GO TO, IT'S A FAMILY YOU BELONG TO. Your most powerful testimony is how you treat others after the CHURCH SERVICE is over. WORSHIP is so much more than the songs we sing on Sunday morning. It is the life that we live the rest of the week. The jaw-bones: Doing all the talking but very little else. The knuckle-bones: Those who knock everything. The back-bones: Those who carry the brunt of the load and do most of the work. UNHANGING OF THE GREENS: Sunday, January 20th Please join us after the church service for a pizza lunch for volunteers who stay to undecorate the church and put all the Christmas decorations away until next Christmas season.
