God challenges us to rise up, be valiant and by his power to pursue the way of heroic virtue. Teach us to go out into the streets and manifest you love. -Pope Francis Daily Reflection Thursday Get Back on Your Feet When you fall, get back up. Our relationship with Jesus Christ gives us the power to rise again. When we turn to God with a repentant heart, he always helps us. A man who keeps falling and rising will make more progress than the one who falls and stays down. Friday Supreme Act of Love The supreme act of love in which Jesus died, that which we remember each time we celebrate the Eucharist, actually brings us into an intimacy with him at a most profound level. There is no conceivable way to deepen our friendship, our knowledge and love of Jesus, and his love for us, than through the celebration of the most holy Eucharist. Saturday Our Earthly Mission Deep down, we all have a sense that we were put on earth for something. We have a mission and our hearts yearn to discern what that mission is. Often we come close, but we sense what we ve found isn t quite the whole thing or the real thing. Not to fret, because if our hearts are pure, we ll be led to it. It is more hurtful when it comes from those closest to us. We must not let this kind of opposition interfere with our quest for holiness. Rather, we have to refrain from judging these critics (we can t see their whole heart), and keep our focus on loving God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and loving our neighbor as ourselves. Volume 63, Number 7, Page 3 ~ From the Pastor ~ My heart's desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved. Romans 10:1 My brothers and sisters in Christ, The Holy Season of Lent begins will begin in a little over two weeks as ashes are placed on our foreheads, reminding us again of our weakness and mortality. It s the Church s time each year to focus on the battle against satan and sin and the need to cling to the Lord s mercy and grace. I invite you to prepare for Lent and to take advantage of these events and activities in our Parish during the holy season of conversion that is coming: WAY OF THE CROSS: Fridays 12.05pm (following Benediction) LENTEN MISSION BY REV FR GARRETT MCINTYRE March 13-15, 2017 6:30-8:00pm Each Night Fr. McIntyre s mission talk, Eucharistic Exposition and Benediction, and the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Penance. Everyone is invited - and please bring a friend! PRIEST, PROPHET, AND KING STUDY by Bishop Robert Barron: The better we understand Jesus, the better we understand ourselves. But who was Jesus, this itinerant preacher whom many called the Messiah? In Priest, Prophet, King, you ll discover Jesus as the Anointed One the ultimate Priest, Prophet, and King foreshadowed throughout the Hebrew Scriptures. Using biblical insights and engaging stories, Bishop Barron affirms that we see Jesus most clearly through the lens of the Old Testament. Through this deeply Biblical program, you will better understand Jesus, become more familiar with Sacred Scripture, and realize your own priestly, prophetic, and kingly mission, received when you are baptized into Christ.
