A Message from our Pastor Dear People of St. Patrick Parish, The Catholic church today celebrates the Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph and reminds us that Jesus learned how to become an adult Jew from his home in Nazareth and the examples of Mary and Joseph. There are many families in our St. Patrick Parish and it is my hope and prayer that each family will reflect today upon their family home and lifestyle - Is our home a happy, prayerful home where our children are being led to Jesus and the church He founded? Each Christmas, as your Pastor, I have the joy and pride in seeing families of the parish at church. The newest babies in the arms of their parents at Christmas Mass, following in the footstep of Jesus, the baby. At the Children s Liturgy on Christmas Eve, I saw and heard the younger children act out the Gospel story of the birth of Jesus. It is a reminder that a child shall lead them. It is a pleasure to see our children, as young as a year old, being comfortable in their Father s house, the parish church. At Christmas, we saw the older children of the parish come home from college or military leave, praying with us at Mass as well as so many that were baptized, received First Holy Communion and Confirmation here at St. Patrick, come home. I now see couples that were married at St. Patrick coming to Mass with their young children. This is what Church is about. Least, you think I only see the young ones. I now include the many grandparents so proud of their grandchildren. The Gospel today tells us about Simeon, the older gentlemen who was praying in the temple wanting to see God and was given the joy of seeing the baby Jesus and taking him in his arms and blessing God. We also have Anna, only 84 years old, also praying in the temple and saw the baby Jesus, a gift that God gave to her. Yes, we are the family of God and the family of St. Patrick Catholic Parish, Rodeo/Hercules and anyone else who wishes to worship with us. A very Blessed and Happy New Year to the family of St. Patrick Parish from an old Pastor and a much younger Parochial Vicar who grew up in the family of St. Patrick Parish. God Bless, Fr. Larry Young Pastor
