Annual Survey of Fraternal Activities 1 Jan 2010-31 Dec 2010 Each year our Assembly is requested to fill out an annual survey of Fraternal Activities by both our Assembly as a body and of our members. This report is due to the District Master by 15 January 2011. Please help us by completing the following survey of your past year service. Each member is requested to complete the following survey and return it to our Faithful Comptroller by 17 December 2010. Although you may be reporting this as part of your Council or community work in general, each Assembly member is requested to fill out this survey. Accomplishments last Month Sunday Nov. 28. The following members of Potomac Assembly participated in Donald Cardinal Wuerl first mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the mmaculate Conception Catholic Church in D.C. Our Color Corps Commander & Trustee 1 Year SK PGN PGK David A. Lewis; our Comptroller SK Jim Bona, our Trustee 2 Year SK PFN PGK Edward Jones and SK Stewart Reed. There were 165 Color Corps members from all over the area that participated at this mass. Saturday Dec. 4. The following members of the Potomac Assembly were Color Guards for the posting of the Flag for the Mt. Vernon Council # 5998 Adult Christmas Party: Our Comptroller SK Jim Bona, SK PGK Tom Fahey, SK PFN PGK Jim Reilly, and our Captain DGK SK Richard Risdon. Monday Dec 13. The Potomac Assembly held its Christmas Pot Luck Dinner. Everyone enjoyed the fine food that the ladies brought. After dinner the Members went into the Assembly room for a brief meeting while the ladies enjoyed some coffee and conversation. The members voted on approving SK PGK Tom Fahey proposal to buy 5 DVDs for the Ward 51, the ward for very sick children of our Military at Walter Reed Army Medical facility. A child in this ward goes through the required therapies and each is placed in a group for daily activities (school) while in the hospital. Part of their instructions and recreation require the use of DVD players. Currently 3 of the 5 are broke. The proposal was to donate not to exceed $175.00 for the purchase of the 5 DVD players. They cost about $30.00 each Theo Kang, Major US Army has agreed to purchase the DVD's at the PX and we reimburse him for the cost up to $175.00. Theo will co-ordinate and install the DVD's at Walter Reed. Theo will bring in the boxes to Walter Reed and presents them to Debby Casolari, Child Life Coordinator for Walter Reed. Theo will hook the DVD's up. Theo Knag is a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church and has a daughter being treated there. The need was verified by Debby Casolari at Walter Reed. Saturday 18 Dec. The Potomac Assembly needs your help in promoting, reaching out, and recruiting the 3rd Degree Knights in your respective Councils to become new 4th Degree members. Once you have found a new candidate, please walk him through the steps needed to becoming a 4th Degree Sir Knight. 1. Candidates must be a Third Degree member in good standing, having taken his 1st degree at least six months before the date he plans to take his 4th degree Exemplification. 2. Provide the candidate a Form 4 to fill out and then submit to his Council s Financial Secretary to verify the date of his First Degree and certify that he is an active member of that Council by signing and dating the Form 4. These forms may be obtained from our Comptroller SK Jim Bona. 3. The Application should then be given to our Assembly Comptroller, SK Jim Bona ASAP. All applications received before the beginning of the Assembly Business Meeting will then be Read -in and the voted on by the members at that Business meeting. A Form 4 is needed to be completed as appropriate by the applicant, reviewed and signed by the Applicant s Council Financial Secretary and forward to our Comptroller SK Jim Bona prior to the start of our April 25 business meeting for the Spring 2011 Exemplification. The Location of the Virginia Spring 2011 4th Degree Exemplification has not been announced. Many thanks to our Faithful Captain SK Richard Risdon for his coordinating the outstanding Christmas Pot Luck Dinner on 13 December 2010. Our thanks goes to all the ladies and Sir Knights that brought the many wonderful entrees, side dishes, salads and desserts that we eagerly enjoyed. would like to thank our Bartender/ our Comptroller SK Jim Bona for his outstanding job at the bar serving drinks. would also like to thank Petronella Kayanan & her husband SK Paul Kayanan (Our Purser) who provided us with Christmas Music & their Singing accompanied by SK Joseph McCracken. Thanks also goes to the Grand Knight SK Bud Powers who authorized the Potomac Assembly to use their lounge for the Christmas Pot Luck Dinner.
