FROM THE DESK OF FATHER SOTERI From the desk of Fr. Soteri Then the little children were brought to Him that He might put His hands on them and pray, but the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, Let the children come to me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the Kingdom of Heaven. (Matthew 19:13-14) As our Youth Activities have wrapped up for the summer months, I would like to take this opportunity to extend a personal thank you to all our Youth Advisors and Volunteers. Without your help our Youth Programs would be very grim. I salute the following individuals: Sandra Johnson (GOYA Advisor) Visha Anevich (GOYA Advisor) Kathy Foltz (GOYA Advisor) Christine Klimis (GOYA Advisor) Monica Spantidakis (HOPE Advisor) Kristine Konstantakos (JOY Advisor) Nicolle Panuthos (Dance Group) Connie Makris (Dance Group) Connie Newell (Sunday School) Elisavet Makris (Greek School) Mathew Balasis (Acolytes) Panagoula Skoularakos (Myrrofores) Congratulations to all on a job very well done. Once again I want to thank you and your families for all your help and dedication to our youth. I hope and pray that you have a safe summer.

FROM OUR PRESIDENT Dear St. Stefanos, I hope that you are all doing well and having a wonderful summer! I want to congratulate all of our GOYA members who attended and participated in the Junior Olympics held at St. John's Church in Tampa. As always, our youth were outstanding not only in their efforts, but their sportsmanship and behavior. We should all be proud of our youth who represented St. Stefanos with pride and dignity. Their efforts to come together, welcome new members and play truly as a team rewarded them not only with medals but with the Spirit of our Lord. Looking into July, we have our annual Clergy Laity Conference in Tennessee and are sending a delegate to represent St. Stefanos. We have a rather quiet summer otherwise. I want you to know that your Parish Council is still working hard over the summer months to make St. Stefanos the wonderful place for us to come together and worship at. We are continuing to work on maintenance issues at the moment and any other issues that present themselves. I look forward to seeing everyone everyone Sunday for faith and fellowship. Sincerely, Dora Komninos Parish Council President At the beginning of each new calendar year, Stewards are required to fill out a completely new Stewardship Card with their yearly pledge amount. If you have not done so for 2016, please do so as soon as you are able. Please note that this is required to vote in any General Assemblies

PHILOPTOCHOS Chapter 5009 Welcome to summer! The Ladies' Philoptochos Society of St. Stefanos had a lovely end-of-the-year brunch at Bonefish Grill on Sunday, June 12th. We will be in hiatus until September. At the last meeting of the year, it was decided that the Philoptochos would have our meetings on Sundays after church, in an attempt to increase attendance. We will be providing childcare for our younger ladies who need childcare and refreshments for all. We encourage all of our church members to join with us in order to fulfill the mission of the Philoptochos-- to help the poor, promote the charitable purposes of the Church, preserve the Orthodox faith, and promote participation in the activities of the St. Stefanos community. Don't forget that our gentlemen can be members as well; they just cannot vote at our meetings! Despite the summer, many of the activities of the Philoptochos will continue, including our philanthropy committee, executive board meetings, planning sessions, and as soon as school restarts, our letter writing to the Atlanta Metropolis seminarians at Holy Cross and our own community college students. We will also be hosting a luncheon for the Panagia on Monday, August 15, following the Divine Liturgy. We hope that you would like to join us in the fall.

G.O.Y.A NEWS and Other Dates Congratulations to our St. Stefanos GOYA for another successful annual Junior Olympics in June! Our team won first place in volleyball and first place in basketball, as well numerous single awards for track-and-field events. Our community should be very proud of our Goyans and how they represented St. Stefanos! Although very competitive, our Goyans displayed good sportsmanship and most importantly, made new friends among our communities. Have a restful summer GOYA is looking forward to another great year in the fall!
