Fan reaction was swift. A deafening chorus of boos rained down upon Parker. It was as if the fans entirely blamed one player for the Bears defeat.

Rev. Dear Church Family and Friends, The Chicago Bears faced the Philadelphia Eagles in a playoff game Sunday. Time was running out. The Bears kicker, Cody Parker, prepared to kick the game-winning field goal. He missed. Fan reaction was swift. A deafening chorus of boos rained down upon Parker. It was as if the fans entirely blamed one player for the Bears defeat. What struck me most was what Parker did after he missed. He pointed his finger to heaven. Normally, players who are believers point toward heaven to acknowledge and thank God for success. However, Parker was acknowledging and thanking God even though he missed. What a message and what a stage for that message. There is something and Someone bigger than winning or losing. There is something and Someone bigger than success or failure. There is the One Who is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end and everything in between (Rev. 1:8). That is a good verse to hang your hat on as we launch into 2019.
