Deacon Elect Brother Thomas Edward Evans, the son of the late David Evans and Ada Lee, was born and raised in Dunn, North Carolina. Brother Evans now resides in Sanford, North Carolina with his lovely wife Sandra Lee Evans, who has been his soul mate since July 03, 1987. Brother Evans is a devoted husband and father. He is the father of two children, Thomas Terrell Evans and Minister Thaddeus Evans. Brother Evans is a member of Mount Pisgah Harnett OFWB Church Inc., in Erwin, North Carolina where his pastor is Bishop Reginald S. Hinton, Sr. Brother Evans currently serves in the Ushers Ministry and Pastor's Steward Ministry. Brother Evans is a recent graduate of Johnson Community College in Smithfield, North Carolina where he was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa and National Technical Honor Societies. Brother Evans earned an Associate in Applied Science degree in Bioprocess Technology in 2012. Brother Evans is currently employed at Coty in Sanford, North Carolina as a line technician. In his spare time, he enjoys spending quality time with his wife and two sons, reading, watching sports and most importantly spending time with God. Brother Evans loves scripture, but one he particularly likes is: 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." Ephesians 2:8-10 TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Deacon Elect Brother George Thurman was born in Dunn, North Carolina to Frances Thurman. He graduated from Harnett High School with the Class of 1966. He joined the United States Army and completed a tour of duty in Vietnam. He later attended Fayetteville State University where he earned a B.S. Degree in Mathematics. Brother Thurman was in public service for the majority of his career, from his initial active duty military service and subsequent service in the Army National Guard, to his work as a Math teacher and later as an employee of the U.S. Postal Service. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in June of 2012. Always a civic minded person, he continued to serve his country and fellow Veterans as a member of the Charles Cook American Legion Post 193. He served in various capacities and is a Past Post Commander. Brother Thurman is also a 32 nd degree Mason and a Shriner. Brother Thurman received his early spiritual training, instruction, and membership at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Dunn, North Carolina and under the influence of his grandmother, Mrs. Lucy Thurman, his late uncles, Bishop George (G L) Elliott and Reverend Joseph Thurman as well as his aunt and spiritual cheerleader, Peggy Ruth Thurman. While at St. John, he served as a Church Trustee, Chair of the Audit and Budget Committee and Adult Sunday School Teacher. In February of 2004, Brother Thurman became a member of Mt. Pisgah Harnett OFWB Church, Inc. under the divine leadership of Pastor Reginald Hinton, Sr. He serves as a member of the Pastor s Stewards Committee, as Chairman of the Church Audit and Budget Committee, a member of the Church Banking Committee and as President of the Mighty Men of Mt. Pisgah Ministry. Brother Thurman has demonstrated a love for God, and spends his mornings in prayer and meditation with Him on a daily basis. His favorite scripture is Psalm 127:1. Having experienced and overcome many trials in his life, he is excited that God has provided opportunities for him to be a testament to HIS goodness and mercy via Christian service. In his leisure time, Brother Thurman likes to spend time outdoors and watch good movies. He is an avid and loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Duke Blue Devils. Brother Thurman has been married for 39 years to his best friend, confidante and cheerleader Donna Arnold Thurman, a retired Principal with Harnett County Schools. They have two children, Denise, an educator, and Kevin, a first-year student at the North Carolina Central University School of Law who also serves as a musician at Mount Pisgah Harnett. Brother Thurman asks for your incessant prayers as he continues his walk with the Lord.

Ordination Service When all have reached their places the congregation remains standing. The Congregation will remain standing as Pastor Elliott says: God calls His people to follow Christ, and commissions us to serve His people and declare the wonderful deeds of Him who has called us out of darkness into his marvelous light. God Himself has created particular offices to further the work of His ministries. Deacons are one of these offices, the Deacon is ordained to assist the Pastor, as guardians of the faith, and in proclaiming the gospel of God s kingdom. We give way to God s presence today as we ordain these newly appointed deacons. Pastor Elliott: Congregation: Blessed be the Lord Jesus Christ And blessed be His Kingdom, now and forever. Amen. Pastor Elliott: Almighty God unto whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and magnify your holy Name, through Christ Jesus our Lord. The Congregation may be seated. Reading of Biographical Profile Peggy Robinson Church Secretary Mount Pisgah Harnett Pastor Elliott: Who does present the individuals for consideration? Deacon Charles Taylor: To Pastor Colman Elliott, President of the Cape Fear District Union, to the Ordination Council and to this great fellowship known as the Cape Fear District Union. I Deacon Charles Taylor, Chairman of the Deacon Board of Mount Pisgah Harnett Original Free Will Baptist Church at the direction of our Pastor, the leadership, and members of Mount Pisgah Harnett Original Free Will Baptist Church, trusting in the guidance of the Holy Spirit, do hereby present Brother Thomas Evans and Brother George Thurman to be ordained to the office of deacon. Pastor Elliott: According to the wishes of Mount Pisgah Harnett Original Free Will Baptist Church, Brother Thomas Evans, and Brother George Thurman have been properly examined and having been found worthy of appointment to this scared office of Deacon, it now becomes our sacred duty to set them apart thereto by prayer and the imposition of hands. Scripture Readings: <Participant> Exodus 18:13-23 <Participant> Acts 6:1-6 <Participant> 1 Timothy 3:8-13 (The Last Reader says- Here ends the Reading of God s Holy writ)

Bishop Hinton: With the ascension of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Chief Shepherd the responsibility for the welfare of the Church was delegated to the under shepherds, the apostles. With great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all. Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, and laid them down at the apostles feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need. Pastor Elliott: As the number of the disciples increased, murmuring was made against the Hebrews by the Grecians, because their widows were being neglected in the daily distribution of provisions. Understanding the importance of the effective ministry of the word of God, the apostles called the Church together and indicated that it was not good that they should leave the word of God and serve tables. The congregation was charged with the responsibility of identifying brethren among them who were of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost, who could be appointed to this important task. After the brethren were selected, they were brought before the apostles, who gave them the responsibility of the daily administration by praying and the laying on of hands. Bishop Hinton: It is the duty of the Deacon, at the discretion of the Pastor, to serve the Lord s table, to distribute the bounty of the Church among its needy members, to visit the sick, to assist the Pastor in promoting order and attendance upon the means of grace, to see that an efficient scriptural discipline be enforced in the Church. The Deacon must be by the Church considered a spiritual person, holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience, ruling well his own house. Examination of Deacon(s) Elect: Pastor Elliott: Brothers, you have been called to an honorable, weight and responsible office in the house of God: and now it devolves upon me to inquire respecting your purpose about the same. Do you believe in your heart that after being elected by your church family, the Lord Jesus Christ has prepared you for this weighty office? Answer: I do. Bishop Hinton: Do you heartily and truly accept the Holy Bible as the revelation of God, and will you accept it as the rule of your faith and the guide of your life? Answer: I do. <Participant>: Will you endeavor to faithfully discharge the duties of a deacon in every way to promote the interests of the Church, which has honored you by advancing you to this office? Answer: I Will.

<Participant>:: Will you faithfully strive to assist your pastor and to maintain harmonious relations with all of the officers and members of your church? Answer: I Will. <Participant>:: Will you endeavor to promote peace and goodwill among all men, especially the membership of your Church? Answer: I Will. Bishop Hinton: Will you do your best to pattern your life (and that of your family) in accordance with the teachings of Christ, so that you may be a wholesome example to all people? Answer: I Will. Bishop Hinton: Will you in all things seek not your glory but the glory of the Lord Christ? Answer I will. Pastor Elliott: May the Lord by his grace uphold you in the service he lays upon you. Answer: Amen. Deacon s Declaration: I solemnly declare that I do believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the Word of God, and to contain all things necessary to salvation; and I accept the charge to be faithful to God, to my Pastor and to serve the members of Mount Pisgah Harnett with the Lord s help. (each candidate makes the declaration) The Ordination Prayer (All continue to be seated, while the Deacon(s)-Elect kneel before the Elders to be anointed with oil in the name of the Lord.) A prayer will be offered with the laying on of hands by the Ordination Council and Select Clergy. Presentation of Ordination Certificate Pastor Elliott Presentation of Holy Bible <Participant>:& <Participant>: Receive this Bible as the authority by which you will live your life and to assist in the ministration of his holy Sacraments. The New Deacons are then greeted by well wishers in the congregation, beginning with the Bishops, Ordination Panel, Spouse, Family, Ministers, and Church Deacons and members. Benediction
