WELCOME & ANNOUNCEMENTS
What Child is This ELW #296 What child is this, who, laid to rest, on Mary's lap is sleeping? Whom angels greet with anthems sweet while shepherds watch are keeping?
This, this is Christ the king, whom shepherds guard and angels sing; haste, haste to bring him laud, the babe, the son of Mary!
Why lies he in such mean estate where ox and ass are feeding? Good Christian, fear; for sinners here the silent Word is pleading.
Nails, spear shall pierce him through, the cross be borne for me, for you; hail, hail the Word made flesh, the babe, the son of Mary!
So bring him incense, gold, and myrrh; come, peasant, king, to own him. The King of kings salvation brings; let loving hearts enthrone him.
Raise, raise the song on high, the virgin sings her lullaby; joy, joy, for Christ is born, the babe, the son of Mary! Text: William C. Dix, 1837-1898
Adoration I m here with the others, who saw the heavens testify Now I hang back in the shadows I want to come close
I want to know, She sees me shivering here, She smiles with a nod I walk through the mud and straw to the newborn Son of God
Come, let us adore Him He has come down to this barren land, where we live and all I have to give Him is Adoration
He raises a wrinkled hand, through the dust and the flies Wrapped in rags like we are and with barely open eyes
He takes my finger And He won t let go, And He won t let go It s nothing like I knew before, and it s all I need to know
Come, let us adore Him He has come down to this barren land, where we live and all I have to give Him is Adoration
Come, let us adore Him He has come down to this world we live in and all I have to give Him is Adoration
God is with us here, Our Immanuel God is with us here, Our Immanuel

We Three Kings We three kings of Orient are; bearing gifts we traverse afar, field and fountain, moor and mountain, following yonder star.
Oh, star of wonder, star of night, star with royal beauty bright; westward leading, still proceeding, guide us to thy perfect light!
Born a king on Bethlehem s plain, gold I bring to crown him again; king forever, ceasing never, over us all to reign.
Oh, star of wonder, star of night, star with royal beauty bright; westward leading, still proceeding, guide us to thy perfect light!
Frankincense to offer have I, Incense owns a Deity nigh, Pray r and praising, all men raising, Worship Him, God most High.
Oh, star of wonder, star of night, star with royal beauty bright; westward leading, still proceeding, guide us to thy perfect light!
Myrrh is mine, Its bitter perfume Breathes a life of Gathering gloom; Sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, Dying, Seal d in the stone-cold tomb.
Oh, star of wonder, star of night, star with royal beauty bright; westward leading, still proceeding, guide us to thy perfect light!
Glorious now Behold Him arise, King and God and sacrifice; Alleluia, Alleluia, Earth to the heav ns replies.
Oh, star of wonder, star of night, star with royal beauty bright; westward leading, still proceeding, guide us to thy perfect light!

READING MATTHEW 2:1-12 In the time of King Herod, after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, 2 asking, Where is the child who has been born king of the Jews? For we observed his star at its rising, and have come to pay him homage. 3 When King Herod heard this, he was frightened, and all Jerusalem with him; 4 and calling together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Messiah was to be born. 5 They told him, In Bethlehem of Judea; for so it has been written by the prophet:
6 And you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for from you shall come a ruler who is to shepherd my people Israel. 7 Then Herod secretly called for the wise men and learned from them the exact time when the star had appeared. 8 Then he sent them to Bethlehem, saying, Go and search diligently for the child; and when you have found him, bring me word so that I may also go and pay him homage. 9 When they had heard the king, they set out; and there, ahead of them, went the star that they had seen at its rising, until it stopped over the
place where the child was. 10 When they saw that the star had stopped, they were overwhelmed with joy. 11 On entering the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother; and they knelt down and paid him homage. Then, opening their treasure chests, they offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. 12 And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they left for their own country by another road. L: THE WORD OF THE LORD. C: THANKS BE TO GOD.

Go Tell It on the Mountain ELW No. 290 Go tell it on the mountain, over the hills and ev rywhere; go tell it on the mountain that Jesus Christ is born!
While shepherds kept their watching o er silent flocks by night, behold, throughout the heavens there shone a holy light.
Go tell it on the mountain, over the hills and ev rywhere; go tell it on the mountain that Jesus Christ is born!
The shepherds feared and trembled when, lo, above the earth rang out the angel chorus that hailed our Savior s birth.
Go tell it on the mountain, over the hills and ev rywhere; go tell it on the mountain that Jesus Christ is born!
Down in a lonely manger the humble Christ was born; and God sent us salvation that blessed Christmas morn.
Go tell it on the mountain, over the hills and ev rywhere; go tell it on the mountain that Jesus Christ is born! Text: African American spiritual, refrain; John W. Work Jr., 1872-1925, stanzas, alt.
