Quilting and Bible Study One of the Family Night Out classes this summer is a quilting and bible study class. Offerings so far this year are behind the Square Campus budget, so please prayerfully consider how the Lord leads you to help Madison financially. Requested Announcement Iran: An Original Account Class Ashti Mamash, a Madison attendee and native of Iran, is leading a class at the Calvin Academy of Lifelong Learning. The class will explore Iranian history, culture, and politics. Employing her own witness and indigenous visual narratives, Ashti will reveal the Iran that exists behind that country's aura of exoticism, mystery, and mistrust and call upon the Church to respond to a country that needs to learn how to act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. The Loving Story Soul Food Sunday SQUARE INSERT The Loving Story SundayS Feed your body and soul at Soul Food Sunday! We ll eat delicious food, enjoy community and then hear a short message for the soul from Ricardo Tavarez, Madison s Reaching OUT Director. Please bring at least one person to this event who is unchurched. Menu: Greens, Cornbread, Chicken, Potato Salad,Candied Yams and Peach Cobbler. Soul Food Sundays add an extra element of Madison s fifth-sunday evening services. In other words, it is a part of the evening service, but does not replace the service. In 1958, Richard and Mildred Loving were arrested for violating Virginia's anti-miscegenation (multiracial marriage) laws. Their journey eventually lead them to the U.S. Supreme Court. We invite you to follow the Loving s journey and celebrate the outcome of their case with us as Madison hosts a showing of the award-winning film The Loving Story, followed by a discussion. Flags in Worship We provide flags at the front of our worship space to offer Spirit-filled expression during worship. There are large flags for adults and smaller flags for children. We encourage parents to model their use for their children. This service takes place at the Square Campus (see back). FORD NEWS Commissioned Pastor Examination of Jason Botbyl Come out to support our brother in Christ, Jason Botbyl. The Christian Reformed Classis of Grand Rapids East will host Jason s Examination at Woodlawn Ministry Center, 3190 Burton St. SE. Jason is being called by Madison Square Church to serve as Commissioned Pastor as a member of the preaching team, on assignment at Madison at Ford. His letter of call and position has been approved by Madison Elders and the Ford Campus over the last year. The examination is an important final step towards his ordination. He will be interviewed on practical matters of faith by Pastor Stedford Sims of Step of Faith and theology by Pastor Emmett Harrison of Oakdale Park. Keep Jason lifted up in prayer this week. The Infant Room (0-2) and Toddler Room (2-3) are open the entire service. Our Preschool Room (4-5) and Children s Church Group (6yrs-5 th Grade) are open during the second half of the service. The older children will be released during the offering. You must register your children for them to participate in our different rooms. You can do so at the beginning or halfway point of any worship service. We also have Children s bulletins available in the entry way.
