It is directed by Franklin Graham and its purpose is to share Christ with needy children in troubled countries around the world. This is done by using a simple shoebox! The Royal Ambassadors and Girls in Action mission groups would like to invite the church body to join us in this mission activity. All you need to do is take a shoebox, wrap the lid and bottom separately (or, you can pick up pre-decorated shoeboxes in the foyer), fill the shoebox with items for a boy or girl (please, no war related items, candy, gum, toothpaste, liquids or lotions, medications or vitamins, breakable items or glass containers, aerosol cans, used or damaged items), put a note on the lid to label the gift for a boy or girl and the age range, and include $9.00 for shipping. Place the completed shoebox(es) in the foyer under the promotional poster, bring it to the Media Resource Center, or bring it on Collection Sunday, November 11, 2018. This is an outstanding mission project for a family or Sunday School class. If you are unable to do a box, and want to participate, place any appropriate items under the promotion poster. If you have any questions contact Bob Andes @ 581-1239. Joy to the world One Shoebox at a time. Join us to pack shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child! Thursday, November 8 th ~ 6:30-7:30 p.m. Fellowship Hall
From the Desk of the Transitional Pastor Tim Binns - Tim s Thoughts The activity begins to pick up at church during this month. The turkeys are being thawed, the shoe boxes are being packed, the choir is working on their Christmas program. We begin to think about being thankful. I am so very thankful for this church. It has become my true church family. You are a very loving congregation and I am so blessed to be serving with you. I was really blessed by the cards and gifts during Pastor Appreciation Month. I am very excited to say that the last Sunday of this month, I will begin my Christmas sermon series on The Christmas Dilemma. I know, you are thinking it is too early to talk about Christmas, but I told my wife, Jan, just this week, that I was ready to decorate for Christmas already. I just enjoy thinking about the greatest gift, Jesus. I am so thankful for all that he has done for me as well as the blessings he has gracefully given to me. Are you thankful this year? An old hymn used to remind us to count our many blessings, count them one by one. Take time during this season to begin counting your blessings. It really makes a difference in your heart. Pastor Tim In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (Genesis 1:1) Daniel Young - Grace Notes I have recently been listening to an excellent sermon series by John MacArthur on creation. I would encourage you to listen to it as well. If you go to gty.org and click on the Sermons tab, just start on the first sermon. You are guaranteed to learn something about creation week. For instance, he demolishes evolution, whether atheistic or theistic. Obviously, Christians can t hold to atheistic evolution. But neither can we hold to a theistic evolution in which God guided or oversaw or even launched the evolutionary process. The Bible makes no room for evolution. To be succinct, evolution is predicated upon the idea of survival of the fittest. This means there must be death for evolution to take place. In the Bible, death didn t even exist until Genesis 3. There was no survival of the fittest before Genesis 3 because there was no death. Evolution cannot fit into an honest reading of the text of Scripture. You will find many more interesting facts and ideas in this sermon series if you just take a listen. If you are like me, you need to something to look at while listening to a sermon, so you can follow along with the transcript of the sermon as MacArthur preaches. I am by no means trying to replace our regular, faithful preacher here with audio sermons online. What I am suggesting is that we would benefit from learning from multiple Bible teachers, both in our hometown and outside our hometown. If you should decide to try out even a single sermon online, may you be richly blessed. And thank God this Thanksgiving for the wealth of biblical teaching at our fingertips in the 21 st century. A Dessert Fellowship will immediately follow the Christmas Program. Sign up in the foyer and bring your favorite Christmas dessert to share!
