Serve Interna onally with Mission Jamaica in 2018 Mission Jamaica provides Chris ans a meaningful way to put their faith into ac on through short-term mission trips to Jamaica. The trip combines a service project with me for reflec on and spiritual rest. It allows people to experience an interna onal mission field that is close to home, yet far enough away for them to immerse themselves into another culture for a week. We serve our Jamaican partners by planning, funding, and implemen ng Chris an teaching, medical care, childcare, and construc on projects. Whatever your gi s or talents are, you can use them to serve the Jamaican community. Mission Jamaica provides a way for anyone to love and serve our neighbors, just as Jesus taught us through his love and service to others. The Mission Jamaica Team invites you to par cipate in Word of Peace s 2018 mission trip, February 24-March 3, when they will do both medical and building projects. There s always something new at wordofpeace.org! Worship Volunteers Are Needed During Summer Months The worship services that take place during summer and throughout the year would not be possible without the help of volunteers like you! Please consider serving communion, ushering, gree ng, or running the sound and media this summer. For more informa on, contact Tracy Rowe at trowe@wordofpeace.org or (763) 496-2421. New Paraments in the Sanctuary Church paraments are the cloths that adorn the altar, pulpit, communion table and other parts of the Sanctuary. The paraments are changed with the church calendar, and have specific colors and symbols to highlight various seasons and fes val days. We have new green paraments for Ordinary Time from Jeane e Paulson, en tled, Lord of the Harvest. About the design, Jeane e writes: The season of Pentecost coincides with plan ng, growing, and harves ng in the northern hemisphere. We hear readings about Jesus ministry in this season and his frequent use of vineyards and wheat fields as illustra ons in his parables. As we pray for peace in the world, we think of the plight of refugees and the need to get food to all of God s people. My design illustrates vines, stalks, and branches intertwined with the arch of the sun (rising or se ng) in its midst. 4
