Eliza Marshall first married William Allen and had at least two daughters Elizabeth and Amanda. After William Allen s death, Eliza Marshall Allen married William Exum. Together Eliza and William Exum had William J. S. and Melissa. Kinchen D. Exum, a son of William s from the first marriage married his step sister Elizabeth Allen. They are my great-great grandparents. I have a picture of Elizabeth. The identity of William Exum s first wife is unknown. A William Exum married a Sarah Jackson in Wilson County, TN and I think we are talking about the same William. If so, Eliza Marshall Allen was William s third wife. William Exum s children were born from circa 1807 to circa 1841. Melissa was the youngest so far as I know. Kinchen D. Exum and Elizabeth Allen were teenagers when their parents married, so their later marriage is not as weird as it first sounds. I think in Mitchell Jones charts he has the Elizabeth Exum who married William H. Jones as a daughter of William Exum and Eliza Marshall, but really her mother would have been William s firs wife. Most of William Exum s children did not have Eliza Marshall as a mother. Source: Conversation with L.H. Gill on 11 July 2004. Spring near the Gill house. She took home the tombstone of Thomas Jefferson Gill and cleaned it up. L.H. Gill returned the next day and read what was inscribed on the tombstone. It had a full verse, which he could not recite from memory. He told me that a family member of the Gill family, Mary Neal (Gill) Caneer, w/o Jeffrey Scott Caneer; that lived in Buffalo Valley, TN took home the tombstone of Thomas Jefferson Gill. He does not know if it was ever returned to the cemetery that Thomas Jefferson Gill was buried at. Mary Neil Caneer informed me on the 5 th of June 2010 in a e-mail that she took the tombstone of Thomas Jefferson Gill back to the cemetery and placed it near at the base of a large tree where it was originally found. *Reba (Gill) Quesenberry Obituary: Detroit Free Press Newspaper, Detroit, MI: 5 September 2002 b. 26 March 1925, Detroit, MI d. 3 September 2002, d/o Stewart Preston Gill & Addie Anderson QUESENBERRY, REBA, September 3, 2002, age 77 of Dearborn Heights. Eulogy given at the funeral of Edward Norman Norm Quesenberry: 13 July 2004 Norm A Genuine American Man Read at Norm s funeral by, Gerald R. Voie Edward Norman Quesenberry was born February 15 th, 1925. Reba and he were married at the Dearborn Inn on August 3 rd, 1946. His brother William Bud Quesenberry predeceased him in 1963, and his wife Reba also predeceased Norm. Norm entered life eternal on July 10 th, 2004 at the St. Mary s Hospital in Livonia. Norm was truly a Genuine American Man. He grew up a child of the Great Depression and a son who served his country valiantly in the U.S. Naval Service in World War II. Upon his return from war, Reba and he were married and built their home in Dearborn, MI. Soon their daughter Debra was born, and a pet dog, a Chihuahua named Sandy came into their lives. Norm was a hard worker as the model Genuine American Man. He worked his way up from stage to stage and post to post in his railroad work from fireman to engineer. Although he didn t graduate from High School, he studied hard and developed a talent, a knack for striving to higher aims and purposes in the Masonic Temple earning various degrees and honors. He also enjoyed his affiliations with the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Norm loved his brothers, Bud and Jim and sister Virginia. He was devoted to his wife Reba and daughter Debbie. Norm was the Genuine American Man who loved to eat chili Coney dogs and ice cream. Reba used to pack him a lunch every day and she wondered how he was gaining so much weight. It turned out that he ate two lunches, the one Reba prepared for him and also a favorite chili Coney meal at the local diner. Norm was the Genuine American Man. He was baptized a Baptist as a child, trusting in Jesus Christ his Savior and Lord. After their marriage, Reba and Norm joined the Presbyterian Church, and worshipped there. Norm was a joiner. He enjoyed getting involved in civic groups and organizations. Norm and Reba used to love to dance together with the Big Band music of the 1930 s and 40 s of Bennie Goodman and others. Norm loved to listen to jazz and big band music, and he loved to watch American Movie Classics, especially John Wayne movies. John Wayne was a kind of rugged individual who showed men of Norm s era a way of strength and courage under pressure of wartime and difficulties. Norm was the Genuine American Man whose faith and life was molded by the experiences of life that brought him a deeper appreciation for life and love. Norm learned early in his life as child of Depression days to share whatever he had with others. No matter how poor people were back then, they always showed a sense of pioneering pride and humility in service. Norm was modest, not bragging nor self-deprecating. Although life served up its tragedies for Norm, he kept a firm upper lip and let troubles slip over his back. Norm would give others the shirt off his back if the need presented itself. When Norm lost his leg he didn t mope around or express self-pity. He took it all in stride, and kept going forward with vision and hope for the future. Like Will Rodgers, Norm never met a man he didn t like. Norm was a Genuine American Man, who cared about others, and served their needs admirably. Norm always enjoyed traveling with Reba, like the trips they took by train to California and also the trip to Cuba. Norm loved returning to his boyhood hometown, Plymouth, Illinois for the Old Settlers Reunion, eating chicken and fish dinners and reminiscing about the past as they watched horse and tractor parades and pulls. Norm loved life, family, and the American Way. He served his country and helped us all know and appreciate the freedom we enjoy together. Norm was the Genuine American Man. Let us give thanks to God and celebrate the faith, life and memory of Edward Norman Quesenberry.

CONSOLATION Author Unknown For those I love and those who love me: When I am gone, release me let me go, I have so many things to see and do. You must not tie yourself to me with tears, Be happy that we had so many years. I gave my love, you can only guess how much you gave to me in happiness, I thank God for the love we each have shown, But now it is time; I travel on alone. So, grieve awhile for me, if grieve you must, Then let your grief be comforted by trust. It is only for awhile that we must part, So bless now the memories deep within you heart. I will not be far away for life goes on; So if you need me, call, and I will come; Though you cannot see me, or touch me, I ll be near; And if you listen with your heart, you will hear, All my love around you, soft and clear. And then, when you must come this way alone, I will greet you with a smile and Welcome Home.
