Welcome: Prelude Organist/pianist Jeff Burke Birthday Liturgy: To honor our members with birthdays in May Leader: Life is a precious gift from God, our Creator and Sustainer. People: Thank you, God, for life. Leader: We give thanks to God for those people whose birthdays are in May. People: We are grateful for these special people, and pray for God's blessing to be upon them. Leader: Each person who is a part of this community of faith brings varied gifts that enrich our lives together. People: May we always be open to seeing God's image in one another, and using the gifts He has given us in his service. Amen. Call to Worship: Leader: It is an awesome thing to stand in the presence of God and to call on his holy name. People: As far as the heavens are above the earth, God's ways are above our ways. Leader : But we come with confidence, because in Christ we are called to be God's people. All: Come, let us worship God our Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer! *Opening Hymn: "Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee" # 89 Opening Prayer: O God, our heavenly Father, on this day when we remember all those who fought and died that we might live in peace and security, accept our gratitude and praise. With God our Creator, children all are we. Let us walk with each other in perfect harmony. Let peace begin with me; let this be the moment now. The next breakfast will be Monday, June 4th at 8 am at Mom s Restaurant. Adult Bible Study We gather Tuesdays from 1-2 p.m. or so to study the scriptures together with Pastor Heidi. All are invited to attend. We are studying Galatians! No Bible study on May 29th and June 5th. Bible study will resume on June 12th. All are welcome! We gather in the meeting room after folks have gotten a chance to grab a few refreshments. Trenton First UMC Announcements Soup Kitchen Once again, we will be hosting at the Wayne Wright Community United Church of Christ First Congregational Church 98 Superior Blvd. Wyandotte, MI 48192 on June 9th. This is a ministry where we serve those who are hungry, providing nourishment for body and soul. Last time we served a hot meal of baked ham, scalloped potatoes, green bean casserole, salad, and cake. We also provided sack lunches for folks to take with them. We are looking for servant leaders to cook the food, give their time, assist with preparing sack lunches, and share the love of Christ with folks at the soup kitchen. Preparation begins at 9:30am and lunch ends at 1pm. If you would like to participate in this ministry, you can call the church office (734) 676-2066 or sign-up in the Lounge. -6-
