Lesson 7 Last week we looked at Genesis 6. We saw that the sons of God. We have made the case in various prior weeks that these can only be angelic beings. The story of Genesis 6 is that angelic beings came to earth and mated with human women. Their offspring produced a very bad product. The Bible says they were all males, and that they were men of renown. They were something to behold, and were powerful, imposing, and not of a Godly nature. Instead, they were vicious, evil, violent, preyed upon mankind, violated other earthly creatures like beasts and birds, and went after human blood. Through their influence, all of humanity shifted their mindset to only continuous evil thoughts, as God put it. The initiation of this pervasiveness of sin upon humanity was initiated by the angels of heaven; fallen angels of heaven. These angels brought secrets down from heaven; knowledge and action that humanity was not given by God yet were known in the heavenly realm. These angelic beings stole this heavenly knowledge and brought it to humanity upon earth. The takeaway is that this is a new set of sin. It is the sins of the Watchers that has been imparted to humanity. Sin came upon humanity with the fall of Adam. That only initiated the separation of God and humanity. It made man a sin creature. But it was the Watchers who taught humanity how to manifest that sin; or as I say, taught them how to become professional sinners. Sin became an entrenched part of humanity s life with the interjection and teachings of the Watchers. We looked at the Book of Enoch. We saw that it was quoted in the book of Jude. Therefore, we reason that the Holy Spirit is comfortable with the Book of Enoch and the message that it tells. We read the Book of Enoch from chapters 6 thru 16 and we got more detail concerning the actions of the angels and how it went down in Genesis 6. We saw that the lead out was an angel named Azazel. He is marked as having laid the groundwork for the whole episode. He came to earth and taught mankind secrets that only heaven knew and that were designed to remain in heaven. http://www.sacred-texts.com/bib/boe/ Enoch 8:1-2 The book implies that he stole these secrets and that he taught mankind on earth these secrets. These included the art of war and the making of metals. It also included the beautifying of women through cosmetics.
The sins that Azazel initiated perpetuate such godlessness and unrighteousness upon the earth that the cries of humanity against these actions are heard in heaven. Several angels approach God about the problem. Enoch 9:6. God then makes a decree upon Azazel. Enoch 10:4-8 Enoch 13:1-2 He charges an angel to take the instigating angel, Azazel, and to take him into the wilderness and dig a pit, throw him in, and cover him with darkness. God pronounces that Azazel will be made guilty for all the sins that have and will come about because of the heavenly mysteries he made known upon the earth. The Watchers and their offspring who then came after Azazel exploded the godlessness and unrighteousness. Then we looked at Leviticus 16 and the action prescribed by God on the Day of Atonement. In that process, two goats are brought to Aaron. One is to be killed as the sacrifice of sins for the people. The other goat symbolically has all the sins of Israel placed upon this second goat, and then that goat is sent out into the wilderness to Azazel. That is where we left off. Let me go out on a limb a little bit. This is going to be one of those things that makes you go, hummm.? Exodus 25:9 Exodus 25:40 Exodus 26:30 Hebrews 8:4-5 Hebrews 9:23-24. The point of this is that the establishment of the Tabernacle and the institution of the Levitical practices and sacrifices were not just some odd ritual system. Instead, they were rituals designed as a copy and a shadow of the realities found in heaven. They were a reflection of the actions and realities found in the heavenly realm. That is why it was so important for Moses to follow the pattern as given by God on the mountain.
[Jhn 1:29 NKJV] 29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! Question: Where does Jesus take the sin of the world to? He didn t take the world s sins to heaven and lay them at the feet of the Father. Heaven is sin free. He took on the sin of the world upon the Cross. By the time Christ had ascended to heaven he had discarded those sins. Where did he discard them? Could he have possibly taken the world s sins to Azazel? After all, what is the purpose of the scapegoat action in Leviticus 16? Is it just a ritual action that signifies or carries no spiritual or heavenly foreshadowing? Foreshadowing is what the whole Levitical system is about. To exclude the scapegoat portion from any pattern of foreshadowing seems out of character with God s entire packaging of the Tabernacle ordinances as a foreshadowing of Christ and his atoning action. Just something to think about. So, Azazel initiated the angels-to-earth-revealing-heavenly-secrets thing. The Book of Enoch then shows us 200 angels who were turned on by this beautification of women and desired to come to earth to mate with these women. Enoch 6:1-5 We see them taking an oath to all go through with this action, and their descension from heaven and their vow to go through with their desires occurred on Mount Hermon. The text implies the name Hermon comes about by the action of their swearing an oath to each other, that they would all enter into the descending to earth and taking up with the women. The gateway through which this action occurred is Mount Hermon. Because of this, Mount Hermon became known in the minds and the lexicon of the Israelites as the gates of hell. We will talk about that more next week. Enoch 7:1-6 The resulting children from their union were called Nephilim. They must have been large in stature because they are called giants. These offspring were very evil and very violent to mankind. The cry of mankind against the Nephilim rose to heaven. The good angels pleaded to God on mankind s behalf. Enoch 9:7-9 God responds with calls to action. Enoch 10:9-10
As to the Nephilim offspring, God made them go to war with each other and to kill themselves off. Given the mating of angels and humans in Genesis 6, consider the union of that offspring. What would the offspring be like? The Bible calls them the Nephilim. They are the mighty men of old, the men of renown. They are also the problem children that brought on the flood. The Bible speaks about the wickedness of mankind leading up to the Flood. The Bible points out that it is these Nephilim that are the cause. The Book of Enoch leaves no doubt that it was the offspring of this union that brought about the need for God to wipe out mankind (except for Noah) and start over again. [Gen 6:5 ESV] 5 The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. [Gen 6:13 ESV] 13 And God said to Noah, "I have determined to make an end of all flesh, for the earth is filled with violence through them. Behold, I will destroy them with the earth. Who is the them mentioned in Genesis 6:13? It has to be the Nephilim. So here we have the product of this Genesis 6 union as partly from the spirit world and partly from the earthly world. What is God to do with a being such as this? In Hebrews, the Bible says that God does not offer salvation to angels. But He does offer salvation to men. [Heb 2:16-17 NKJV] 16 For indeed He does not give aid to angels, but He does give aid to the seed of Abraham. 17 Therefore, in all things He had to be made like [His] brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things [pertaining] to God, to make propitiation [atonement] for the sins of the people. What will God do when you have a hybrid combination of angels who can t get salvation, and humans who can get salvation? Can a Nephilim obtain salvation? Enoch 15:6 16:1 It would appear the answer is no. It also appears that the dead spirits of the Nephilim are earthbound and are prime candidates to be the demons. The Book of Enoch suggests that. Luke 11:14-16; 21-26 Note that the spirits in verses 24-26 are seeking rest. The only place they find rest is indwelling an earthbound creature [in this case a man]. That would complement the Book of Enoch position that the spirit offspring of the angel-human union is condemned to earth; not the heavenly places.
But their dead spirits would be confined to earth, but it doesn t say they are confined in the earth. They are basically being labeled in the Book of Enoch as the evil spirits the Bible speaks of. In other words, the demons. But what about the spirits that are confined within the earth? Who are they? Enoch 15:2-4 Enoch 10:11-14 The angels who came down and indulged in the sexual relations were entombed in the earth and were sentenced to never see heaven again. After reading the Book of Enoch, go back and read Jude. When you get to verse 6, does it read a whole lot clearer now than it did the first time you read it? Now read 2 Peter 2:4-11. It also should read with more clarity for you than it ever did before. 1 Peter 3:18-20 2 Peter 2:4-6 The Bible says that two or more witnesses are needed to establish a charge. The witnesses I pick for my charge that the sons of God in Genesis 6 are rebellious angels are Peter and Jude. Who are the biblical witnesses for the Sethite theory? [2Co 13:1 ESV] 1 This is the third time I am coming to you. Every charge must be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses. The key to all this focus and dialogue upon Genesis 6 is not to incite a theological argument. That is not God s intention when one reads Genesis 6. It is not my intention also. Instead, it is to lay the groundwork for what we will study next week, which is to explain the genocidal activities of the nation of Israel, as commanded by God, as they enter the Promised Land. If you do not have this angelic understanding of Genesis 6, you in turn will not have any understanding or any explanation as to why God mandated genocide when the Israelites entered the Promised Land. What is the grand strategy behind Genesis 6? Is it really just sexually-aroused angels? No. Back in Genesis 3, Satan was told that he was going to be defeated through the seed of the woman. Satan, therefore, needs to stop this seed from coming about. Satan does not know who this seed will be.
Therefore, Satan is trying to corrupt the entire seed of mankind to stop this Human from coming through the seed of the woman. He doesn t know who the seed of the woman will be, but if he can eliminate the biological seed of the woman, then there won t be a Messianic seed of the woman. Satan is trying to corrupt the DNA of humankind so that this human seed cannot come about who is to defeat him. He is trying to make the world an inhabitation of hybrid, quasi-human seed. That way, the seed of the woman cannot come about. It must be noted in Genesis 6:9 that Noah was perfect in his generations. [Gen 6:9 NKJV] 9 This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God. The term perfect means complete, whole, without spot or blemish. The term generations means his quality or his condition; his makeup; his lineage. Therefore, Noah was without spot or blemish in the quality of his lineage. This is not talking about Noah s moral makeup. It is talking about Noah s DNA composition. In other words, Noah s bloodline had not been corrupted by the hybrid angel DNA. Apparently, the angel DNA had become so pervasive throughout mankind that it was necessary for God to completely wipe out mankind and start over again. The physical makeup of mankind was being diverted away from being pure humanness. Noah s DNA (and his family s) was still pure human. The Book of Enoch said the angel action of coming down to the daughters of men was begun in the time of Jared. (Jared was Enoch s father). That gave this DNA corruption a maximum of 1,200 years to blossom and permeate throughout the seed of mankind before the Flood.(Do the math with Genesis 5). The key to the story is the offspring; the Nephilim the unusually large men of the angel-human cohabitation. They are the direct, corrupt result of this angel-human cohabitation. [Gen 6:4 ESV] 4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them Did you catch that? The Nephilim were also on the earth after the Flood. How and why does that come about? Genesis 6 says it happens in the same fashion as it did before the Flood; through the union of more angels with human women. Where do we see giants on the other side of the Flood? We see them in the land of Canaan. Numbers 13:1-3; 17-33 Numbers 14:6-9
Note verse 8. [Num 14:8 ESV] 8 If the LORD delights in us, he will bring us into this land and give it to us, a land that flows with milk and honey. Why did God tell them to spy out the land in the first place? Was it because God didn t know anything about the land? It was because God was testing them. Joshua and Caleb sensed this as they said If the LORD delights in us, he will bring us into this land and give it to us. They understood that this spy game was a test from God. Note vs. 9. [Num 14:9 ESV] 9 Only do not rebel against the LORD. And do not fear the people of the land, for they are bread for us. Their protection is removed from them, and the LORD is with us; do not fear them." What was their protection that Caleb refers to? It was a demonic protection with its base foundation in the action once again of angels mating with humans. This is happening again? Why here? The initial cause was Satan trying to corrupt the seed of the woman as the person who was going to defeat him. This caused him to try and corrupt all seed across all mankind because he did not know who the seed would be. But on the other side of the Flood, Satan now has more specific information. He observed that the Word in Genesis 15 told Abraham that the seed would come through his lineage; and not only that, but that the seed would come from the land that God was giving Abraham, namely, the land of Canaan. So now Satan has more specific information. He now only needs to have his corrupt seed set up in the land of Canaan to thwart or stop the coming of the seed. So, he now just focuses his angelic corruption upon the Promised Land. It was this action and its results that the Israelites saw. They were identified as coming through Anak. [Num 13:33 ESV] 33 And there we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak, who come from the Nephilim), and we seemed to ourselves like grasshoppers, and so we seemed to them." But Joshua and Caleb saw through this Satanic action. [Num 14:24 ESV] 24 But my servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit and has followed me fully, I will bring into the land into which he went, and his descendants shall possess it.
Because of this Satanic design and your understanding of what was undertaken in Genesis 6 and further spelled out to us in the Book of Enoch, you can now put together why God would mandate the genocidal sweeping of the land of Canaan.
